“It felt good?” He caressed her there again in a small circular motion.

Oh, God. The sensation was like nothing she’d ever experienced before, as though her whole body was pulsing stronger and stronger until she moaned, “Yes.”

Yule smiled broadly and continued the motion until Penelope was writhing with each delicious stroke. The strange sensation low in her belly coiled tighter and tighter until her hips rose of their own accord against his hand, seeking something…more. He swirled his finger over the little nub faster until Penelope shrieked as she shattered into wave after wave of a pleasure so deep, she never wanted it to end. Slowly, however, the sweet sensations began to subside and she slumped into the mattress, her head pillowed against Yule’s shoulder.

A few moments later she looked up and beamed at him. “We’re as good as married now, aren’t we?”

A wry smile flickered over his face. “Not exactly, sweetheart.”

She puckered her brow. Surely what just happened had been what Charlotte told her about.

Yule slid his arm from beneath her and pushed her legs open wider. “I’m afraid there is more to it, love. To be truly as one, I have to enter your body. Didn’t they tell you that? That it would hurt?”

Oh, yes. Charlotte had said Phaedra mentioned there would be pain. Iphigenia said it was agony, but Penelope hadn’t believed that. Now, looking at Yule rising over her, his…member looking larger and harder than before, she wasn’t so sure his sisters weren’t telling the truth. She nodded and attempted to put on a brave face. “They did say that.”

Yule leaned down and kissed her, his tongue darting into her mouth as he shifted his body over hers.

She loved his kisses, and this one filled her with excitement again.

He broke the kiss and suddenly, between her legs, something large and hot pressed against her most intimate place. “I’ll be quick and perhaps the pain will be less.”

“Perhaps?” Penelope scarcely got the word out before Yule thrust forward. There was one agonizing pinch of pain, then he flowed into her, filling her up until he could go no further. Panting, Penelope narrowed her eyes, waiting for the pain to increase.

“Does it still hurt, love?” Yule gazed down at her, frowning.

“Not now.” She glanced up at him. “Will it get worse?”

He grinned down at her. “No. It will only get better.” With a little grunt, he pulled himself out, then slid carefully back in. “How is that?”

“It doesn’t hurt.” But she did feel awfully peculiar, so full and stretched.

“And it won’t ever hurt again.” Once more Yule withdrew and thrust back, a look of vast contentment on his face. “Penelope, my love. You feel so…good.” He continued the rhythm, like waves crashing onto a shore and retreating, on and on until the circling sensation inside her awoke again. And with it a hunger for that final pleasure to come.

“Oh, Yule.” She lifted her hips like before, seeking to meet his now frantic thrusts. Again and again, she rose toward him, until at last she shrieked as her body exploded around him, hugging his member. He strained against her, arching his back and crying out her name at the top of his voice. Moments later he sagged against her, his full weight bearing down on her.

Sweaty, but oh so pleased, Penelope put her arms around him. “And that was carnal embrace?”

With a groan, Yule rolled off her, breathing heavily. He flung an arm up over his face and nodded. “Yes, that was very definitely carnal embrace.”

Grinning widely, Penelope snuggled against his side. “Good. Because if that wasn’t it, I was going to change my mind about the whole thing.”

“Too late for that now, my love.” He gathered her to him. “You are mine and no other’s for all time.”

“That sounds so wonderful.” Dreams actually did come true after all. “Now all we need to do is tell my parents what we’ve done and we’ll be able to be married properly.” That couldn’t come too quickly for her.

Yule paused, then frowned. “Let me go to the Archbishop of Canterbury’s offices first thing tomorrow and secure the special license. Then when your father tries to kill me for ruining you, I can show him that I am emphatically willing to marry you immediately.”

Penelope sat up in the bed, eyes wide. She’d never considered that might happen. “You think Papa will try to kill you?”

“Well he won’t call me out—that’s not done any more—but I suspect he still might try to shoot me, if he’s got a pistol handy.” Yule’s face had sobered. “Technically, you are ruined, my love.”

“But only if we don’t marry.” She stretched out, luxuriating in the new closeness she now felt for him. He was her husband in all but name. “And we are getting married as soon as possible.”

“I will be on the Archbishop’s doorstep tomorrow morning at eight o’clock, then I’ll come directly to you and we can speak to your parents.” He pulled her over until she lay atop his naked body. “In the meantime, since the pantomime isn’t due to end for another two hours, I thought we might enact our own pantomime right here.” He pulled her down for a searing kiss.

“What pantomime would that be, sir?” She giggled, loving this new, playful side to Yule.

“The Lovesick Knight,” he said, flipping her onto her back and raising himself over her, “or Harlequin Ravishes the Lady Fair.”

“Ooh, I think I will enjoy that one more than Robinson Crusoe.” Penelope slipped her arms around his neck and wrapped her legs around his hips.

Yule grinned as he slid into her once more. “I think I will too.”
