As the lift doors opened, I saw Valerie at her desk, which reinforced that nothing else would happen.

‘Go through, dear.’ She smiled.

‘Eleanor.’ He looked up as I stepped into his office.

My breath caught in my throat.

God, he was gorgeous.

He was wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, exposing his beautiful forearms, his piercing blue eyes looked even brighter than usual and his hair was just-fucked perfection.

‘Hi.’ I stared at his desk, remembering how well he’d screwed me on it.

‘Leave the door open,’ he said and my stomach dropped. Message received loud and clear. There’d be no repeat of yesterday. Got it. ‘Sit.’

I sat down, putting my new red handbag beside the chair. It was one of the office outfit items Joe had ordered for me. I thought it was too striking for work, but after last night I felt more confident, so decided today was the perfect time to use it.

‘So, the list,’ I said. If he wanted to keep everything professional, I would too.

‘I like your suggestions. Several are friends so I’ll speak to them directly.’

‘That’s great! Who do you know?’

‘Jake Myers, Liam Stone, Josh Carter…’

As Mr Devlin continued rolling off all the names of his friends, my eyes bulged.

‘You know all of those people?’ Surprise filled my voice.

‘Yes,’ he said like it was no big deal.

I wasn’t exactly a celebrity guru, but I’d done a lot of research for the app and they were all huge.

‘And do you think they’ll be up for getting involved?’

‘Liam might be on the fence. He used to do loads of ads when he did his action movie stuff, but since he’s settled down and gone into screenwriting and producing, he tends not to do anything too provocative.’

‘Oh yeah.’ I nodded. ‘He’s dating a famous matchmaker called… Mia.’

I read about them during my research. They were childhood besties who ended up hating each other. But when Liam fled to London after a sex scandal, they reluctantly agreed to fake date so that Mia could enter a matchmaking competition and Liam could restore his reputation. Then they ended up falling in love for real.

‘Correct. There’s a good chance that Jake could get involved, though.’

‘He’s huge right now!’ I gasped. Even I’d heard of him, which was saying something. He was another star with a romantic love story.

He’d met his fiancée, Halle, at the famous Love Hotel, California matchmaking resort. At the time, Jake’s career was in the toilet, but Halle inspired him to write new music. Now he was one of the biggest stars in the world. Halle was a celebrity in her own right too, doing nails for A-listers and glossy shoots.

‘Yes. Which also means his schedule is full-on, but I’ll call him to see if he’ll have any availability this century.’ He chuckled. The delicious sound sent a wave of desire directly to my core.

That was one of the first times I’d heard him laugh and it was just as much of a turn on as when he was being grumpy.

‘Amazing, thanks.’

‘Do you have a list of the authors you feel would be a good fit?’ Mr Devlin leant forward and I tried to stay focused and not look at his lips.

I still couldn’t believe that they were pressed against my pussy last night.

Tingles erupted between my thighs.
