Mr Devlin stormed off, leaving my jaw trailing on the floor.

ELLIE

‘Jeez.’ Dana fanned herself once Mr Devlin had left. ‘Is it me or did the temperature just shoot up forty degrees? There’s something about a powerful man in a suit that just gets my juices going.’

‘He’s rude!’ I barked, anger bubbling in my belly. ‘How am I supposed to write the article in thirty minutes? It was hard enough when I thought I had an hour and a half. He’s evil and totally unreasonable!’

‘Hon,’ Dana said. ‘Daddy Devlin’s not like us. He’s a billionaire. He’s used to getting what he wants. He doesn’t care how. And I hate to break it to you, but now you’ve only got…’ She glanced at her watch. ‘Twenty-seven minutes.’

I groaned before turning my attention to the screen then hovering my hands over the keyboard.

Right.

An article encouraging women to use a collection of new sex toys.

I can do this.

Can’t I?

Actually, I’m not sure that I can…

Thank God Dana was here. She’d know what to do.

With her help, I’d be fine.

‘Should I start with the fact that the products are new or set up a scenario where the target audience might need to use them?’

My question was met with silence.

When I turned to face Dana, sweat was pouring from her forehead as she held the bin under her chin.

‘It wasn’t just Mr BDE’s hotness that made me overheat.’ She fanned herself frantically. ‘Sorry, Ellie, but I don’t think I can—’

Before she could finish her sentence, she vomited in the bin, then raced out of the office. Probably to continue throwing up in the toilets.

Poor Dana. I needed to do something to help.

I rummaged around in my bag, found a peppermint teabag then went to look for a kettle.

Eventually I found one in a kitchen and wow.

Just like the rest of the building, this room looked like it belonged in a brochure.

It had glossy white cupboard doors, chrome worktops with baskets full of chocolate croissants and freshly baked cookies, tall bar stool chairs and a coffee machine that was straight out of an artisan café.

Once I boiled the kettle, I poured the hot water over the teabag I’d placed in a branded Sated International mug (which had a silhouette of a couple in an interesting sexual position printed on the front) then hurried to find the ladies’.

Although my deadline was looming, I couldn’t leave Dana alone.

Once I found the toilets, I pushed the heavy oak door.

Even the loos were fancy with bottles of luxury soap and hand cream positioned at each of the modern sinks and baskets with a variety of sanitary towels and tampons.

‘Dana?’ I called out. ‘It’s Ellie. I brought some peppermint tea to settle your stomach.’

‘Thanks,’ she groaned. ‘But you need to finish your article! I can’t let you lose this job because of me.’
