I already knew.
It was Blake.
We’d been caught.
Fuck.

BLAKE
As soon as I saw Ellie, I stopped dead in my tracks.
She was talking to Calista.
Sated’s PR Director.
This wasn’t good.
When I’d returned to the private room after going to the gents and saw that Ellie wasn’t there, my chest tightened.
And now one of my worst fears had been realised.
This was one of the most exclusive and expensive restaurants in London.
Only people with money and connections could get a table here on a Friday night. Calista being here was understandable.
But Ellie being spotted at this restaurant at the same time as the CEO who she was working closely with would raise suspicion.
I needed to think quickly.
There were two options.
I could lie and say that Ellie and I had a meeting with an author or narrator regarding the app. But Calista would ask who and if she spoke to them later, that would backfire.
Or, I could just pretend this was a coincidence and hope for the best.
‘Mr Devlin, sir!’ Calista waved, before approaching me.
Ellie was rooted to the spot, her eyes like saucers.
Fuck.
My heart thudded against my chest.
No.
Everything was fine.
There was nothing to worry about.
It wasn’t as if Calista had caught me fucking Ellie.
Even if she thought it was suspicious that we were both here, she wouldn’t dare question me. I was the CEO for fuck’s sake.
‘Good evening, Calista,’ I said calmly.
‘Hello.’ She beamed. ‘When I saw your car outside, I wondered if I’d bump into you. I’m here with Hilary, y’know, the agent who’s over from New York.’
