“Merry Christmas, my curvy witch.”
“Merry Christmas, my hot alpha.”
“Come on, let’s go to bed.”
“Actually, I’m not sleepy.”
He gave her a sexy look. “What do you want to do instead?”
“Get your mind out of the gutter.”
“The gutter is a fun place.”
“Stop being nasty. I want to play another board game.”
“Again?” He frowned.
“I’m not a quitter. Back home, I’m the board game queen. I cannot let a newbie beat me at something I excel it.”
“I didn’t beat you just once. I beat you three times.”
No, he wasn’t bragging. “Come back to the table, dragon.” Sin stood up and headed toward the table. “It’s time for round four.”
From behind her, her dragon called out, “Usually, when you say it’s time for round four, we head to the bedroom.”
“Bring it, dragon.”
Chuckling, he followed her to the table where she embarrassed herself three more times. For a guy who’d never played a board game in his life, he was damn sure good at it. He owned all the houses on the block.
Wherever she landed, she had to fork over some money to him. You would think he’d take it easy on her because she was his mate. Nope. When it came to that damn game, he treated her like a complete stranger.
“You owe me five hundred dollars,” he told her.
“I only have four hundred left.”
“You can borrow some from the bank.”
“You own the bank.”
“I do.”
“Your interest is too high.”
“You’re the one who came up with the rules. You said I could charge as much as I wanted for interest.”
“Twenty five percent is a bit extreme. Even house mortgages don’t have that high of an interest rate.”
“I’ve never had a house mortgage.”
And it shows, Sin thought. “Don’t you want to lower your interest rate, just a teeny tiny bit?”
He shook his head. His expression was serious as hell. He was taking this game serious as hell.
“I’m your mate,” she reminded him.
“I know. And I love you.”
A tingle crept over her. “I love you too. Which is why we have to work together.”
