“Just one more.”

He leaned forward until their noses touched. “I’m willing to do anything that makes my Treasure happy.” He moved back. “I have meetings in the morning. You can train then.”

“Sounds like a plan. Look at how easily we came to an agreement. And we didn’t even have to argue.”

“I never argue. You’re the one who gets upset.”

“Do not.”

“I could smell the anger rising off you when I said I wanted you to have my last name.”

Oh, right. “I wasn’t upset. I was…” Stop lying, Sin. “Okay, I was mad. It’s because I’m already separated from my family. I’m not ready to be separated from the name I share with them.”

“Why not just say that. I can’t read your mind. You have to tell me how you feel.”

“You’re right. I guess, I was expecting you to be a mind reader. I’ll do better in the future.”

“So, will I. I won’t just assume you’re okay with something. I’ll ask first.”

Sin grinned. “Look at us being all mature and stuff.”

“We’re being mates. This is what mates do. They communicate to prevent any misunderstandings.”

“Let’s keep doing this.”

“We will.” He kissed her nose. “Since we won’t be training at the facility today, what do you want to do?”

“Let’s go in the backyard and play with our swords.”

“Right after we bathe.”

They took the quickest bath they’d ever taken together. Then they dressed and grabbed their swords. Their backyard area was small. But, they had a bit of privacy and that made it a great place for them to practice with their swords. Her sword was a bit heavier than she’d expected.

“Today, I want you to get used to holding it.”

“That’s it. I want to practice stabbing.” She stabbed the air.

“That’s not how you stab with a sword.”

She stabbed the air again. “This feels stabby.”

“Stabby isn’t a word…”

“What did I tell you about correcting my choice of words?” She stabbed the air again.

“What you’re doing may feel stabby, but it isn’t. Let me show you how to hold a sword properly.” He moved to stand behind her.

“Uh-uh. Every time you touch me, parts of me get wet and start begging for attention.”

“Come on, mate. Swords are not for fun. Here…” Kaede pointed at a spot on his body. “If you ever come up against a dragon shifter and need to put him down, stab him here, just below the rib cage. That will weaken him. Once he’s weak, stab him in his heart, then his abdomen, then slice both of his Achilles heels.”

“Damn, it takes all of that?”

“Then continue stabbing him. Those first strikes are to weaken him enough so you can get in the other strikes.”

“That sounds like a lot of work. If I ever get attacked by a dragon, I’ll let you handle it.”

“What if I’m not here to handle it?”
