“Unfortunately.”
“Explain.”
“That’s definitely a story to be told over drinks. I’ll tell you next time.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.”
“I know. I know. Walk faster. It’s colder than a hooker’s clit on ice.”
“What?” Kaede laughed.
“You heard me.”
“Say it again.”
“Nope.”
“Seriously, say it again. I want to tell it to Sin.”
“I’ll tell her myself.”
“Hey, stay away from my treasure.”
“You just told me to protect her. Make up your mind.”
The two men argued all the way back to the compound. Neither of them noticed the witch hiding in the shadows.
Chapter Nineteen
Winter
Christmas morning….
Winter hummed while she worked.
“The dick got you up baking and humming and shit,” Vicky mused.
Winter ignored her inner demon. She was in a good mood for some reason and didn’t want Vicky to spoil it.
“For some reason? We all know the reason. Dick. That’s the reason.”
“Shut up,” Winter replied and refocused on what she was doing.
“I can’t believe the warrior from the demon plane has turned into a housewife.”
“Cooking doesn’t make me a housewife. Didn’t I tell you to shut up?”
“Whatever. I’m not complaining. Just don’t be mean to Rhen again. My heart can’t take it.”
Neither could hers. But she had to keep some boundaries between them. While he was full speed ahead, she was taking the more cautious approach.
“Why be cautious? We have nothing but time on our hands lately. Why not spend it riding his face?”
Winter sighed. As much as she hated to admit it, Vicky was right.
“Score one hundred for Vicky.”
“You have not been right that many times, demon.”
