“Thanks. But I don’t think Vayn would approve.”
“One day, he will,” Bliss promised before disappearing in a puff of dark wisps.
I stood there for a moment, thinking. I hope Bliss’s words come true one day. But if they don’t, I’ll be alright. I’ll always be alright. I’d just be a bit better if Bliss kept that promise. I showered quickly, using the body wash I’d brought from home.
A body wash that now sat on the shelf next to Vayn’s body wash. I took a deep breath and released it slowly before reminding myself to stop planning a future with a male who wasn’t showing signs of doing the same thing.
Chastisement over, I let the hot water wash the suds from my body before turning the water off and exiting the shower. After drying off, I dressed and then walked over to the mirror to take in my appearance. No makeup. Black hair pulled back into a low ponytail with damp curls framing my face. Yeah, I could look better.
With no makeup or comb here, this was as good as it was going to get. Donning my black leggings, a red and black T-shirt that read, My Hellhound is Bigger Than Yours, and red socks, I headed back into the training room where my shadows awaited me.
“Hey, beautiful,” Charm and Bliss said at the same time, causing me to blush.
Turns out, I’m a sucker for praises. Who knew?
“Hey, handsomes,” I said back, knowing that wasn’t a word.
However, it caused them to smile, and that made me happy. Turns out, I liked giving out praises also. Who knew?
“You ready to practice dream traveling and teleporting?” Rage asked.
Dream traveling? Yes. Teleporting? No. I wasn’t ready for that. So far, I’ve only been able to teleport while asleep. Even then, I could only travel to locations where Vayn was present. I’d traveled to his home numerous times. I even traveled to his friend Stryx’s home when Vayn was there.
It had been a test to see if I could get past Stryx’s wards to get to Vayn. I passed, which had pissed Stryx off. The scary general hadn’t been upset with me. He’d been angry at the witches who’d put the wards in place. We’d finally come to the conclusion that there was something about Vayn that drew me to him.
No matter where he was or how protected he was, I could get to him. I had a theory about the reason for that, but I was afraid to present it to him. Yet, it was at the back of my mind all the time. What if my powers were manifesting now because Vayn was in my life? What if his magical energies were calling to mine?
Scenarios like that only happened in special occasions. One of those occasions was when two mates finally met. What if Vayn was my mate? What if he was my other half? I liked him. I desired him. Now that he wasn’t frowning at me all the time, I enjoyed being around him and his shadows.
However, the tell-tell signs of finding a mate weren’t there for me because I didn’t have fangs and claws. A female descendant’s fangs and claws emerged involuntarily for her mate the first time she met him. Her fangs wouldn’t retract until she had a taste of her male or males.
I’d yet to get my fangs and claws, so I may also not be able to feel the mating pull yet. Also, sometimes, it took longer for hybrids to realize someone was their mate. Sometimes, those tell-tell signs didn’t work the same for hybrids.
But if I was Vayn’s mate, he’d feel it. Right? For Fallen males, the tell-tell sign was when the male became extremely protective of the female. Vayn was protective of me, but he was also my guardian. Therefore, I didn’t know if he was being protective because he was mine or because it was his job.
“Where did your mind drift to?” Charm asked.
Pulled away from my thoughts by Charm, I let out a nervous chuckle.
“I was thinking of all the ways Vayn will kill me if I don’t hurry into the other room to start practicing teleportation and dream traveling.”
Rage grabbed my hand and told me, “I’ll take you there now.”
And just like that, I was teleported away in a wisp of dark clouds. When we appeared in Vayn’s room, I didn’t feel nauseous at all. With the help of my shadows and guardian, I’d long stopped fearing being teleported. Vayn looked up from where he was seated on his bed. His gaze roamed over me, taking in my attire.
“Nice shirt,” he complimented.
“Thanks.” I hadn’t purchased it. It was what Rage left out for me. I assumed Vayn had brought it for me.
“Do you like it?” he asked.
For the first time ever, my guardian seemed unsure of himself, and that only made me like him more.
“Like it? I fucking love it,” I replied.
The smile that lit up his face was blinding.
“Good.” He nodded to the bed. “Lie down. It’s time to practice dream traveling. But before you lie down, I have something else for you.”
