“I can’t let you out of my sight. Boss’ orders.”
Are you kidding me?
“Fine. Drop me off out front. Give me your number, and I’ll text you when I’m done,” I snap as I lean back in my seat and cross my arms, already annoyed with this situation. I’m so over these bossy fucking men.
“I can’t do that either.”
“You’re not staying for my whole shift, are you?” I only get a slight head nod in return. “Absolutely fucking not. I can’t have a guy that looks like he would shoot someone just for looking at him wrong taking up my section for the whole night! Do you know what that’s going to do to my tips?”
The corner of Rob’s mouth tips up. “You do realize that you work in a biker bar, right? All the men in there look like me.”
I shoot him the same glare I shot Matteo earlier in his office. I hate that he’s right. The only difference between him and a biker is the suit. It kind of stands out, but the scary vibes still waft off the same.
“Sorry, Wren. I don’t think you’re winning this one.”
Obviously.
“Let’s just get this shift over with,” I mumble with an eye roll as Rob parks. So much for having my freedom back.
“Whoa, bitch!” Delaney whistles from behind the bar, once again drawing the whole rail’s attention to me as I walk in. “How many hot men do you know? And do you care to share?”
My middle finger shoots up as I clock in on the computer. That doesn’t stop her laughter as she watches Rob walk the whole way to the booth in the back corner, angling himself so he has a view of the whole bar.
“What’s up with that?” Delaney nods her head in Rob's direction.
“I don’t even know, bitch.” I groan. “Matteo says I need a man on me at all times until whatever is going on is taken care of. Do you know how annoying it is to basically have a babysitter at almost thirty years old?”
“Does he report back to him?”
“I’m assuming so.” I shrug. “Otherwise, what’s the point of having him follow me?”
A thoughtful look comes over Delaney’s face. “So you’re just going to take it?”
“What do you mean, just take it?” I stiffen, ready to be on the defense because it’s not like I’ve had a say in anything that’s happened over the last few weeks. I’ve tried until I’m blue in the face, and it gets me nowhere.
“My best friend isn’t a little bitch. And she sure as hell doesn’t take shit lying down.”
Damn.
The bitch is right.
“I need to show him who's boss,” I decide, a small grin toying on my lips.
“There she is!” Delaney claps. “There’s my bitch!”
“Will you two please get the fuck to work?” Cain interrupts, shaking his head as he steps behind the bar. “I’ve been watching on the cameras for the last ten minutes, and neither of you have moved or stopped fucking talking.”
“Please, you know you love to hear what we have to say.” I laugh, grabbing a few bar napkins to greet the table that just sat down.
Delaney whistles as I strut across the restaurant, hips swaying slightly, a sultry smile plastered on my face.
If Matteo wants to play, then let the fucking games begin.
