Tonight, it’s on.

Chapter

Twenty-Five

SLING

Ileave Blake sleeping in her bed alone.

It about killed me to leave her like that, but I'd hate myself for the rest of my life if I didn’t handle this. I’m not a man who believes in living with regrets. You live your life with intention, regardless if it pisses someone off or not.

I lock her door as I close it behind me and pull out my phone to call Mountain. I can’t help but look over at my house as I approach my bike.

It used to be a place I loved to come home to and let the world be quiet for a while, but now that place seems to be next door.

“Yeah,” Mountain answers as I mount my bike.

“You get her shit?”

“Yup. It’s all here, Prez.”

“You get him?”

“Oh yeah. Who knew a body fit so easily in the trunk of a Nissan Altima,” Mountain snickers.

“On my way,” I end the call and fire up my bike.

I make sure to rev my pipes just for the old bitch down the street as I peel out of our neighborhood.

“Where is he?” I ask as I prowl into the clubhouse.

“Out back in the shed,” Vamp answers. “The prospects are watching him.”

I nod as I head to the fridge behind the bar and grab a beer, needing something to take the edge off. It doesn’t even make a dent as I throw the empty can into the trash.

“I don’t want to be a dickhead right now,” X starts as he saddles up to the bar, as I shoot him a look. I’m really not in the mood for his bullshit. “But I’ll be the one to ask, since we’re all thinking it. Are you claiming her?”

“I’m claiming her,” I confirm, earning me a smirk from every brother around the room. “I wouldn’t put the club in this position if I weren’t.”

“We know you wouldn’t, Prez.” Vamp slaps me on the back. “Congratulations. Something tells me you’re going to have your hands full with that one.”

On a normal day, I would be celebrating, but I can’t even muster a smile because all I want to do is kill the motherfucker in my shed.

Lilah catches my attention out of the corner of my eye. She’s standing in the hallway, leading toward the kitchen with her arms crossed as she glaring daggers at us. I think she’s going to be the real problem. Especially if Scar claims a woman.

I give her a look, and that’s all it takes for her to wipe the expression off her face and leave as silently as she came.

“We’ll celebrate once this shit is over,” I tell them. “I’m calling Widower to see if he’s available for disposal. Once I get word, this ends tonight.”

All my brothers give me a hard nod as I step outside to call Widower.

His reputation precedes him, making his road name one of the truest I’ve seen in my life. I don’t know how many lives he’s taken, but the rumor is one a month for the last decade. You do the math.

Not a lot of people scare me, but there’s something cold about him that could bring the strongest man down to his knees.

I’ve asked him until I’m blue in the face if he wants to patch in and join our chapter, but he doesn’t. He likes the nomad life. Going wherever the road takes him. So I leave him be.

Just as I think he’s going to send me to voicemail, Widower picks up on the fourth ring. “What?”
