“Why would I do that when I know your tight ass loves to storm over to me? I’d hate to take that opportunity away and give you another reason to be pissed at me,” Sling retorts.
For once in my life, I’m speechless as I watch him weave around the tables and crowd, heading back to the guys. One man who looks like he’s close to four hundred pounds of pure muscle is smirking right at me in a way that he knows something I don’t.
I stare right back as I raise a brow in challenge at him and bring my hand to my face, casually scratching an itch I don’t have with my middle finger. He sees it and throws his head back and laughs; his boom can be heard from here over the music.
Sling doesn’t look my way, though. Even when his friend says something to him from across the table.
Cosmic, one of our cocktail waitresses, comes up to the bar for another round of drinks.
“Will you drop this one off to those guys over there?” I ask as I nod toward their table. “It’s for their president.”
Cosmic looks over her shoulder to see who I’m talking about. “Sure.” She smirks.
“Make sure to tell him it’s a Between the Sheets.”
“Oh, I’ll tell him alright. I’d love to have him between my sheets,” Cosmic says as she puts the drink on her tray and looks over their table. “Honestly, I’d take any of them.”
If I didn’t know how fucking annoying Sling is, I would probably want in his bed too.
He’s hot.
But he knows he’s hot, and that isn’t hot.
“Wish me luck,” Cosmic says as she adjusts her bra and grabs her loaded tray of drinks and heads toward their table.
I watch as she sets the drinks down, all the guys getting whisky and beer until it gets to Sling. The whole table cheers as the martini glass is set down in front of him.
Sling picks up the glass, turns to me, and locks eyes. The heat in them has me scorched in place, unable to move. I feel the promise of them. It’s a promise that will be broken because I refuse to cross that line.
I’ve been with men like him before.
This is how they hook you in. They love the chase, and you love the game. Until the game isn’t fun anymore and he’s on to the next thing that holds his attention.
If only my body could get on board.
Sling downs the drink in one go. I watch his throat bob as he swallows, the tendon in his neck flexing out.
I bet it tastes good.
The DJ announces the next dancer on stage, drawing Sling’s attention back to the show.
There’s a part of me that hates his attention being taken away from me. I hate him, but there’s something about knowing I can hold his attention that’s thrilling.
I’m not going out of my way for it, though.
“Come find me when you think the Saints Outlaw MC is about to leave,” Russ says, getting in my space again.
I take a step to the side, trying to create an invisible boundary, but he follows.
“Why would he leave without talking to you?” I ask as I make drinks. “I thought you’re hooking them up tonight.”
Russ sighs angrily, but the fake fucking smile is still plastered on his face. “Don’t worry about it. Just do as you’re told.”
“I’m not a fucking child, Russ,” I snap back as the bottle I’m holding bangs into the well harder than I intended.
It’s that or I bash his face into the rail.
His hand rests on the back of my neck and squeezes tightly. I barely contain my wince. To anyone watching, he looks as if he’s just joking around.
