Either way, this is a first. I always end up at his place and wake up before he does, therefore never having to deal with the morning after. The girls at the club are going to die when I tell them about this.
I press my ear to the door, straining to listen. It’s so quiet in my room that I’m getting mad at myself for breathing because I’m afraid I’m going to miss hearing a door close.
Wait.
What the fuck am I doing?
This is my house.
Why am I hiding out in my bedroom like I’m scared to get caught doing something I shouldn’t? I’ll drag his ass out if I have to.
Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath before yanking open my bedroom door and marching back out to the living room, fully prepared to drag a man who has at least a hundred pounds on me out of my house.
Except Sling isn’t anywhere to be found.
The man is freakishly silent for his size. It’s creepy, honestly.
I walk into the kitchen and find the mug he had been using for his coffee empty and in my sink. Besides that, there’s no trace of him anywhere.
Huh.
I look around a little skeptically.
That was almost too easy.
I make my rounds around the house, making sure all the doors are locked in case Sling gets any bright ideas and tries to come out. It’s my last day off, and I plan to be dead to the world today while I rot in bed and binge-watch some trash TV.
The next week went by with the usual headaches.
Work has been weird.
I’ve been itching to confront Russ about having Big Jack practically kicking me out of the club, but I haven’t seen him. Each day I get myself all worked up, ready to rip my boss a new asshole, and I’m left disappointed.
He’s been coming in though, just at times when I’m not here. If there’s something I need him to sign, I leave it on his desk, and when I return to the club the next day, it’s signed.
The girls are on edge.
Big Jack is on edge.
Hell, I’m on edge because I have no clue what’s going on.
Thankfully, the customers haven’t caught on or noticed the cloud of impending doom that we’re all feeling. And if they do, they’re too distracted by a pair of tits in their face to actually give a shit.
This week’s alcohol delivery was correct, but when I came in on Friday and did inventory, another case was missing and not accounted for being used.
It’s just not adding up.
I’m hoping when I go in tonight, Russ will be there because I’m confronting him about all of this, whether he likes it or not.
Another weird thing is that I haven’t seen Sling since he vanished from my house. Not that I’m complaining. The universe finally listened to what I had been manifesting. I just wish it would have listened to something else other than this.
He hasn’t even woken me up.
It’s like he dropped off the face of the earth too.
Just as I’m finishing the last few touches of makeup, my doorbell rings.
I drop the eyeshadow brush I was using into my makeup bag and go to see who it is.
