“It looks like the poor woman who called us out of fear for her safety was in her right to do so,” the second officer replies.
“In her right?” Sling glares at her. “She could try minding her own fucking business for once.”
The cops change their stance from casually trying to figure out what’s going on to tensing for a fight.
I grab Sling’s forearm as I try to once again pull him back. He doesn’t throw me off this time, but he also doesn’t move back with me either.
“Come on, Sling. Let’s just go inside and calm down,” I tell him quietly.
I look at Mountain, hoping he will help me get Sling back inside, but he isn’t paying attention to me. His eyes are locked on the officers and he looks as ready to go as Sling is.
Fuck.
“He won’t be doing that.” The first officer shakes his head as he approaches Sling and the second officer approaches Mountain. “You’re both under arrest.”
“Oh, come the fuck on,” Sling says. “For what?”
His body is wound tight, but he doesn’t resist as the cop turns him around and puts him in handcuffs.
I glance over at Mountain, slightly worried he’s going to blow. His breathing is coming out in short pants as his chest visibly rises and falls. He doesn’t say a word as the second cop does the same to him, slapping the cuffs on him.
“Assault and battery and disturbing the peace,” the first officer answers before he reads both of them their rights.
“Even if neither one of them is pressing charges?” I ask once he’s done in a last-ditch effort to stop this.
“When we arrived at the scene, both of them were going at it. Virginia is a shall arrest state.”
Fuck.
I glance over at the woman who caused this mess to find her smirking. She wipes it off her face when she catches me glaring daggers at her.
Yeah, fuck you, bitch.
I didn’t have bailing Sling and Mountain out of jail on my bingo card today.
Chapter
Thirteen
SLING
Icrack my neck as I sharply exhale while the door of the jail cell slams shut behind me.
This ugly ass orange jumpsuit is itchy as fuck.
And I’m going to kill that bitch down the street for not minding her own goddamn business.
She’s had a problem with me since the day I bought my place. I can’t even tell you how many noise complaints she’s placed and how she fears for her life every time she hears my bike turn down our street.
Stupid bitch.
Mountain and I went in without an issue. There’s no sense in adding another charge on top of the bullshit ones we already have.
I look at the metal bunk bed that has a thin fucking mattress on it covered in jizz stains with a folded blanket on top and get pissed all over again.
I shouldn’t be in here.
And Blake had to watch me get cuffed and put in the back of a goddamn cop car.
