“Come again?”

“I didn’t have five grand in cash lying around, and I couldn’t just leave you in there after that stupid bitch caused all of that to go down, so I used my car as collateral. If you show up for your court date, we’ll be even…” Blake trails off, her voice growing quieter the longer she rants.

What the fuck?

She put her car up to bail me out.

That’s fucking insane.

I hate her for it, but also love her for it at the same time.

I guess now I know why they say there’s a fine line between love and hate.

“Are you fucking stupid?” I bite out, lowering my face inches from hers.

Blake’s eyes widen as she tries to scooch up on the mattress, trying to get away from me, but my hands lock around her wrist, stopping her from going anywhere.

“Are you seriously calling me stupid after what I just did for you?” Blake exclaims as anger flashes across her face.

“Yeah, I am. It was stupid as fuck for you to put your car on the line like that. What if I told you that I didn’t want to show up for my court date? Then what, huh? They’re going to take your car and you won’t have shit to get to work in.”

Blake’s mouth opens and closes. “Well, I…” She pauses. “I didn’t think you would be the type of guy not to show up to an appointment.”

“You didn’t think I would be the type of guy not to show up to an appointment,” I echo, my tone mocking. “Toots, I’m a fucking biker. Half the time I don’t know what the hell I’m doing tomorrow and I sure as hell don’t make appointments.”

Blake swallows as I lay it out for her. The reality of the situation beginning to set in.

“So… you’re not going to show up?” Blake asks, her tone quiet. The fiery woman who was ready to rip my dick off is nowhere to be found.

I can see the panic setting in over the risk she didn’t know she took as she thinks about everything she has to lose.

I lean in, running my nose along her jaw. I grin as I hear her swiftly inhale and her jaw tighten. “I’ll show up,” I mumble against her skin, kissing it softly as I feel her jaw relax from my admission. “Under one condition.”

“What’s that?”

“You admit you’re my girl.”

Chapter

Fifteen

BLAKE

There are a million different thoughts running through my mind right now, and that coming out of his mouth wasn’t one of them.

Do I want to be his girl?

I can’t stand to see him standing in his driveway, ready to annoy me the second he gets a chance.

Can’t stand the way he wakes me up after I worked all night long.

Can’t stand the way he’s always in my business.

So why did the thought of Sling wasting away in a jail cell make me sick to my stomach? I wouldn’t have been able to sleep tonight if I hadn’t bailed him out.

All I could picture was Sling’s massive frame being confined in a tiny room he wouldn’t be allowed to leave and him sleeping on a metal bunk bed that he’s too big for. I’ve seen enough episodes of Locked Up Raw to know exactly what happens in there.

So, I went in there guns blazing with zero idea of how much his bond was going to be, but I was ready to put my house on the line if my car wasn’t enough.
