He’s still mad.
I knew he was mad at the club, but it’s been a few hours since he left. I figured he would have blown off enough steam with his brothers to have gotten over it by now. I should have known he wouldn’t let something like that go.
But you know what?
Fuck him.
He knows what I used to do. Just because I don’t dance for money anymore doesn’t mean I’m ashamed of it. I still work at the club. It’s not like I lied to him about it. He can kiss my ass if he thinks he can make me feel bad about it.
“Get the hell out of my house,” I hiss as I glare at him.
It’s pointless because he can’t see it but the point has been made.
Sling throws his head back and laughs a humorless laugh. “Drop the fucking towel.”
My hands move to my hips. “Did you hear what I just said? Get the fuck out. I’ll call the cops and you’ll end up right back in jail.”
We both know I won’t call the cops, but that doesn’t stop the air from going electric.
Sling’s dark form sits up on the bed, no longer resting against my decorative pillows.
“Call the cops, Blake,” Sling taunts. “I fucking dare you.”
There’s something in his tone that has fear racing up my spine.
“Why are you here?” I try a different angle.
Maybe if we have the conversation I’ve been dreading all night, he will leave so I can go to sleep.
“Why am I here?” Sling repeats as he swings his legs around so they’re hanging off the side of my bed, facing me.
“Are we just going to repeat each other all night, or are you going to answer me?” I ask, unable to keep the sass out of my tone.
If I thought the air in the room was electric before, it’s on fire now.
“Lose the towel,” Sling demands.
“What?” I ask, tucking the towel in tighter around my breasts.
“Lose. The. Fucking. Towel,” he repeats, his tone harder than before.
“I think you need to leave,” I tell him, holding my ground even though my body is betraying me as a wave of heat rushes between my legs.
“Don’t make me do it for you, toots,” Sling warns. “Trust me when I tell you, you don’t want that.”
The warning is clear as day, but… something is telling me to push the limits.
So pushing the limits is what I do.
“If you think you can order me around in my house, you’ve lost your damn mind,” I hiss at him.
Sling’s face is illuminated by the moonlight shining in through the window, allowing me to see his narrowed eyes trained on me.
My breath hitches at the way he’s looking at me. My body feels as hot as it did moments ago in the shower. Except this time it’s not from the temperature of the water. It’s from the heated anger in his eyes.
Before I can blink, Sling darts up off the bed and snatches the towel off my body. His rough, calloused fingers grazing my skin along the way.
I gasp.
