How would he know? She cocked an eyebrow and looped her arms around his neck.
“What? I have read them, you know.”
“When?!”
“Last year during the shoot, after I bought your signed book,” said Nick. “But I didn’t read that one straight away. I started with your debut and went from there. I love how they’re all interconnected.”
“God, I had no clue, you crafty bugger!” Evie playfully punched his arm. “I love you so much!”
“You know, I never get tired of hearing that.” He smiled.

“I couldn’t agree more.” Nick leaned in for a kiss, but his focus jumped up. “Oh, Tigs, you’ve got…”
She hastily rubbed her cheek. “Argh, do I have melted cheddar on my face again? I swear I wear more mac ’n’ cheese than little Luke.”
“No, it’s an eyelash. May I?”
Evie nodded, and Nick tapped his index finger against the side of her nose. He presented the lash for perusal. “Go on, Sutherland, you know what to do.” His dark eyebrow arched with anticipation.
“I would, but…” Evie’s heart fizzed with joy. “It’s already come true.”
