Auctioned to the Outlaw

The room suddenly feels smaller. “Does it change anything?”

“Yeah.”

My stomach drops. “Great.”

I reach for my cards.

Dane catches my wrist. “Didn’t say it was bad.”

“Then what changes?”

His thumb moves once against my pulse. “Makes me want to go slower.”

My breath catches. He releases my wrist and touches my face, his fingertips dusting along my jaw. The contrast between those enormous hands and the way he’s touching me almost ruins me.

“Doesn’t make me want you less.”

I stare at him. “You want me?”

His eyes darken. “Lila.”

“What?”

“Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to.”

“I don’t know.”

“Bullshit.”

My heart pounds. “Maybe I want to hear you say it.”

Dane shifts closer. “You want me to tell you how often I’ve thought about putting my mouth on you?”

My breath catches.

“How many times I’ve watched you walk around my house in those little leggings and my sweatshirt and had to remind myself why you’re there?”

“Dane.”

“You asked.” His thumb brushes my bottom lip. “And Lila?”

“Yeah?”

“There hasn’t been another woman in more than ten years. Not a single one.”

I stop breathing.

“I just want you to know that.”

I nod.

“Now, tell me to stop.”

I don’t.

His gaze stays on mine. “Lila.”

“I’m thinking.”
