“Why?”

“Because I love you.”

My lips are on hers before I can even fully process what she just said. It takes me two seconds to realize what I did. I start to pull back, but she moves, wrapping her arms around my neck and sliding from her chair into my lap.

Her lips feel good against mine. Better than all the other times before because we’re sober, we’re safe, and we aren’t out to ruin each other.

She pulls back after a moment to look at me as my hands rest on her hips. I’m not quite sure when or how that happened. Honestly, I don’t know how long we were kissing, but my cock is hard in my jeans, and her eyes sparkle.

“Wyatt?”

“Yeah, Tues?” I clear my throat.

“I said I love you.”

“I know.”

“So…”

“I love you, too, Tues. I’m not sure I can ever make up for what I did, but I think I’ve loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you.”

“Well then, I have you beat, because I think I loved you the first time I heard you play.” She smirks at me.

“You loved my skill, not me,” I correct.

“You loved my body, not me.” She laughs.

“No. Your body is a nice bonus, but I love what’s inside more.” I cup her face.

“You mean all the pain and tragedy?”

“No. I mean, yes, I love that, too, but I love your heart. The one you tried very hard to keep hidden, but I saw it.”

“Better than anyone else,” she whispers. “I may never be better, Wyatt.”

“I know. Me either.”

“Do you still want me?”

“I’ll always want you, Tues.”

“Always want to fix me.”

“No. Always want to be by your side.”

“Even if it gets messy or I end up in ruins?”

“If you end up in ruins, I’ll be right there beside you.”

She smiles. “Yeah?”

“Yes.”

“So what now?”

“You tell me, remember?” I grin.

“I want you to jump.”
