“So? That doesn’t mean I’m a possession to be kept and groomed. I have the right to leave if my job is over.”

“That’s not how things work at Ironwood Estate, dearest Sera,” a voice says from somewhere hidden in the room.

Lucien.

I exhale, shakily. “Oh, she likes our fearless leader, does she? That’s a first.”

Have they done this before?

“Elias, you’re scaring her,” Kyrin says, slapping his hand down on the table. “It does us no fucking good to scare her.”

“She’s not scared, are you, petit corbeau?” His hand finally releases my chin from his grip, but instead, it travels lower, teasing my nipple through my shirt. “Her nipples are hard, and I bet, if I were a betting man, that if I slip my hand down the front of her pants, she’d be wetter than the threatening ocean outside. Am I right, Seraphine?”

He’s said my name as if I’m the reason this estate is haunted, and they’ve finally caught me.

“Yes,” I breathe, my cheeks filling with rouge.

“Ah, ah, ah, don’t do that. Own it. Dominate it,” Elias says.

“Easy for you to say,” I snap, covering my mouth as his eyes narrow.

Kyrin chuckles. “She does have bite; I’ll give you that.”

“What was that supposed to mean?” Elias asks.

“I only meant that you’d know how to dominate because of how you…”

“Fuck? How I fuck, Ms. Thomas. You can say it. I break women. I bend them to my will. I explore how far they’re willing to go for me. I love them on their knees, tears rolling down their cheeks with my cum coating their tongues. There’s nothing wrong with that, is there?”

I wish I could say that there was, but as he spoke, my knees were shuddering like the studs of this fucking house in the wind as they itched to hit the floor and allow him to use me.

“No.”

Elias smirks. “Good. Now that’s out of the way. Kyrin said to drop whatever this was you were looking into, so that’s what you’re going to do. Correct?”

“Yes, Sir.”

He steps closer. “Glad we’re seeing eye to eye on this.”

His lips hover close to mine, and my body feels as though it’s floating in a universe where I can’t continue unless he tells me it’s okay.

“Me too,” I answer breathlessly.

“Don’t let this place break you, Ms. Thomas. Because I very much want to know what you taste like.”

His words make no sense, and neither does my body’s reaction.

When he pulls away, Kyrin stands and follows him out.

Lucien, who hasn’t spoken since earlier, is nowhere in sight, but I can’t help wondering if he’s still there.

“Hello?” I whisper, thrill entering my tone as I look around.

“I’m here,” he says, his hand coming from behind me and slithering down the front of my thigh. “I’m always here.”

My heart, which had been calming, is now hammering, so loud I can scarcely hear over its storm. “What did he mean by don’t let this place break me?”

“You’re not the first this estate has lured in, and you won’t be the last, calamity. It’ll be a pity to see it consume you, but it’ll be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed.”
