When The Fair Goes Dark

Another laugh comes louder from the speakers.

Where the hell was Willow?

My breath comes out in pants, and I try to even it as the lights flicker back on.

My eyes take a second to adjust, and when they do, I feel a presence nearby to my left.

Turning my head, I see the same mask staring back at me at the end of the hallway I was on.

What was he doing?

I don’t move, or say anything.

His form was solid, his hands behind his back and from what I could see his hair was dark. But, that also doesn’t mean anything because someone could’ve spray painted it.

He makes one step forward.

My heart jumps.

I take a step backward.

He takes another step.

My stomach drops.

“Shit.” I whisper as I take another step.

Another step to me.

I took another.

“Don’t.” I say.

His masked face tilts.

He moves closer.

I point at him. “No.”

I glance behind me to see how far I could even walk before I hit another hallway.

Turning back, my heart comes out of my throat as a scream jumps out of my throat.

He was significantly closer to me.

Like five steps closer than a second ago.

“Don’t” I repeat, taking another step back towards the frame.

He doesn’t take another step.

I hold my hand out as I breathe to see what the next move was. I had maybe three more steps before it went to another hallway.

The same one I just raced down to get away from the other guy.

He lunged.

“What the fuck!”
