I looked at him more closely.
“Do you work at only like one of the attractions?”
No answer.
“Sullivan.”
His eyes moved down to me.
“I’m trying to have a conversation with you.”
“I noticed.”
“And you are terrible at it.”
“I noticed that too.”
I laughed.
“Okay. Well what attraction are you working at?”
“Why?”
“Just call me curious.”
“About the carnival?”
I hesitated. What if this was the mystery man that kissed me last year?
“Sure.”
His eyes stayed on mine. They were dark. Intense. Mesmerizing.
I looked away first.
“Are you going to tell me?”
No answer.
I looked back at him to see his attention was back on the crowd.
“I don’t like you.”
I don’t know why I said that. I didn’t even know him like that, but he brings something out of me.
“I know.”
“You say that a lot.”
“Because you talk a lot.”
My mouth fell open.
I glanced down at his mouth to see what looked like possibly a smirk curving at his lips.
“Are you making fun of me?”
He didn’t say anything.
