I turned around, seeking Quinn.
He was still standing with Duncan, but his attention shifted the moment our eyes met. He straightened.
I crossed the room slowly.
Quinn waited until I reached him before speaking. “You okay?” His voice was gentle, but not cautious or worried.
I nodded. “I’m fine. Everything’s good.”
He studied my face carefully, then smiled. “Good.” He cocked his head. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Not right now.” Later, when we were alone.
Quinn’s hand brushed against mine, and I laced our fingers once more. He glanced down, then back up at me. “You look lighter.”
I smiled. “I think I am.”
“Good.” Then he tilted his head slightly. “So does this mean the emotional drama portion of the evening is finished?” I loved the hint of mischief in his voice.
I loved even more that he felt confident enough to say the words.
I huffed a laugh. “I sincerely hope so.”
Quinn squeezed my hand once. “Excellent.” He leaned a little closer. “Because there’s still one thing we haven’t done tonight.”
I arched my eyebrows. “What’s that?”
He grinned. “A scene? We are in a BDSM club after all.”
I couldn’t think of a better way to end my evening. And get rid of any remaining tension.
“Do you have an idea of what you’d like to do?”
His eyes sparkled. “I have lots of them.”

“Remind me why you’re coming to rehearsal again?” I asked as we walked towards the studio.
“Because I was asked to.” Quinn grinned. “Didn’t I tell you? They added me to the group chat after the pub night. And I’m here because we’re all going for a meal later. Someplace in Chinatown.” He bit his lip. “Weren’t you invited?”
I rolled my eyes. “Yes, I’m invited. Theo told me. I just didn’t know you’d been included too.” Which meant I’d have to grab Julian for a chat during the break. I hadn’t heard back from him since I’d sent the song.
I wasn’t sure what to make of that.
Noise greeted us as we climbed the stairs to the studio, voices overlapping in the way they always did before rehearsal officially started.
I snorted. “Are you sure about this?”
Behind me, Quinn laughed. “The pub was such an info dump that there can’t be much left for them to share. All I want is to sit at the back and listen to you all making beautiful music together.”
I stopped at the door and turned to look at him. “And then?”
Quinn’s eyes sparkled. “And then, I want you to take me back to your place.”
My pulse quickened. “And make some music of our own?”
