Hammer's expression hardened. “She told you all that?” he asked.

“No,” Ghost admitted.

“Then how the hell—” Hammer started.

“You weren't paying attention,” Ghost growled.

“I was paying plenty of attention,” Hammer insisted.

“To her tits,” Ghost countered.

“They were distracting,” Hammer mumbled under his breath.

Ghost couldn't argue with that. “She knew the lifestyle,” Ghost continued. “Everything about her screamed it.” Hammer nodded slowly. “She didn't react to the guns.”

“Exactly,” Hammer said, pointing at Ghost.

“She knew what it meant when the prospect came in bloody,” Ghost reminded.

“Exactly,” Hammer said again.

“And she waited here for us to come back,” Ghost almost whispered that last part because whether he wanted to admit it or not, that last part mattered to him. That was the part he couldn't stop thinking about. Angel had waited for them. A woman who had supposedly walked into Monster’s Madhouse looking for nothing more than a good time had stayed after armed bikers rode out to deal with a rival crew. She hadn't run—she waited. And when they came back, the relief on her face had been impossible to miss.

“She cares,” Hammer said.

“Don't get carried away,” Ghost said.

“She does,” Hammer insisted.

“She met us yesterday; I don’t think that she cared about us yet,” Ghost said.

“Doesn't mean she doesn't care,” Hammer said. Ghost shook his head at him because Hammer had always been the romantic one. Even after everything he'd been through, some stupid part of the man still believed love could work. Ghost didn't believe that, though. At least, he hadn't until last night.

“Let's find out who she is before you start picking out curtains,” Ghost muttered.

“I don't want fucking curtains,” Hammer grumbled.

“Everybody wants curtains eventually,” Ghost countered.

“What the hell does that even mean?” Hammer asked. Ghost had no fucking clue. He was saved from answering when Monster walked into the room carrying Larry—the entire damn skeleton.

“What are you doing?” Ghost asked.

“Decorating,” Monster said.

“Not in here,” Ghost breathed.

Monster set Larry in the corner. “He stays.”

“No,” Ghost said.

“I’m Prez, and I say yes,” Monster said.

“I'm going to shoot him,” Ghost warned.

“Then I'm fining you for destruction of club property,” Monster said.

Hammer shook his head. “You both need help.”
