Fury

Not even a little winded, Adair moved closer to his side. “Fuck yes. Those wyverns are more sluggish than we are. Unless she’s got a fresh flock of wyverns in reserve, we’ve got the upper hand.”

Blayk paced with her. “Yay. We’re now only outnumbered by flying fury spawn and wounded flying lizards.”

The furies were ruthless. Was this to be Eryn’s fate, if they lost? A mindless minion with a death obsession?

His side burned, but the blood on his shirt was not his own.

Vann braced his sword and studied his quarry.

Some laughed with glee as they snapped and stabbed into the fight.

But not all.

Tears streamed down the face of one, her pale skin stained with blood.

Writhing with confusion, another fought against every lash of her blade.

Hungry for death, a snarling one lunged at him. No pity in this one’s actions.

Vann jumped back.

She unleashed a blood-chilling scream. Like a bullet to the eardrums. He roared to counter the sound.

Bodie dropped to the ground and covered his paws over his sensitive ears.

Lips peeled back, Blayk launched over the bodies in front of him. In one swift move, he sliced off her head.

Silence.

The other furies fired sharp looks around the driveway. At the battlefield already stained with blood.

And settled on him.

Fuck. The team was right. He should have stayed hidden.

The nearest ran for him. Opened her mouth to scream.

Vann drove his blade into her abdomen. She sobbed and clutched her middle as she collapsed to the ground.

Pity ached in his chest.

He forced a deep breath.

There was nothing he could do for her. No time to decide who was redeemable. Who to spare.

Not until Eryn was clear of this.

Even then…

Tisiphone held all their souls.

The team fought and sliced. Feathers instead of the leathery wings of wyverns, they were fucking hard to ground.

Another dove at him. Sobbing, screaming, her hand shook as she struggled to fight against her command.

With the butt of his sword, he dealt a blunt blow to her forehead.

The woman collapsed.
