She nuzzled and flicked a knuckle on his stubbled chin.

“Cookie dough ice cream.”

“Seriously? That’s so immature,” she teased.

“Says the physician who obsesses over cheddar and sour cream potato chips.”

“Why not cookie dough and ice cream separately? It has to be both?”

“It’s the texture. You sink in for a boring squish of ice cream, and there’s a glob of cookie dough waiting. It’s the best.”

She angled to lean on him and looked out the window at the clouds.

Vann stiffened, his breath caught.

Eryn shifted to see what was wrong.

Eyes darting at nothing, scowl deepening, he was lost outside of the moment.

“Are you okay?”

Finally, he blinked hard and inhaled with relief. A laugh rattled up his throat. “I’m good. Really good… Wow. Shit. That was intense. So, um… you want kids, right?”

“I don’t know that I’m capable of it, or if it would be safe, and…” Eryn trailed off, searching his expression. “You saw something, didn’t you?”

He nodded and looked at her with a fresh rush of sweet wonder. “I don’t get many visions, but that was fucking vivid. I’d rather have waited at least a few years, but remember how I told you about my grandma’s vision about Skye and Noah?”

“Yes…” Eryn studied his expression, as if she could read it right from his mind.

From the cockpit, Bennett walked back and stretched. He paused, and sharpened his look at Vann.

Vann brushed his thumb along Eryn’s cheek. He glanced toward the back of the jet, tongue fiddling in his teeth with amusement.

Lana finished her visit with the furies, and was walking to join Archer in the seats across from them.

In a low, melodic voice that danced with joy, Vann murmured to Eryn, “We’re going to have a daughter, and soon.”

“What? Really?” Shock and pleasure glowed under Eryn’s ribs as she pictured it. That he knew it was going to be okay was… amazing. She’d been too terrified to even consider, not knowing what she’d pass on. “And she’ll be… okay? Not, um…”

“She’s amazing.”

Eryn’s eyes welled up in an instant.

“Not yet, but we need to get started, because she’s going to be needed to save the world.”

Bennett folded his arms across his chest and angled a look, watching. They’d all faced enough potentially world-altering prophecies, that they knew when to listen up.

A laugh rattled Vann’s chest, and he flicked a look over at Lana and Archer. “You’re off the hook for now, but keep an eye on your nephew.”

“Thank fucking shit. We aren’t nearly ready for kids.” Lana fiddled with a grin as she looked down at Archer, and back at Vann. “Kai, or Josh?”

Archer squinted with feigned disappointment at his wife. “Josh is the future hunter. It’s Josh.”

“Did you just have a demon hunter hunch?” Lana curled around Archer and nipped a kiss.

“I think I did.”

Vann lifted an eyebrow at Bennett.
