“Did you bet on us?” Uriel asked suspiciously.

Doc coughed. “Possibly.”

“He did!” Ottis said, limping into the living room with a furry pup in his arms. “But that’s not even the—”

“Ottis!” Doc frowned. Ottis promptly shut up, looking guilty.

“That’s not even the...?” Uriel stared at Ottis.

“Nothing,” Ottis mumbled, shuffling his feet. “It’s got nothing to do with us, is why I shouldn’t say it.”

“But it has something to do with me and Bruiser?” Uriel asked.

Ottis grimaced. “It’s not my secret!”

“Whose is it, then?”

“Um... Crush. I’ll throw my brother under the bus,” Ottis decided. “He’s got lots of good things going for him, so you can go yell at him. That’s all I can tell you.”

Uriel exchanged a look with Bruiser. “That’s where we’re heading next. Thanks, Doc, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.”

“Anytime.” Doc saw them to the door. Ottis trailed behind, looking cautious but also curious.

“Wait, Uriel.” Ottis sniffed, his nose twitching. His gaze dropped to Uriel’s belly, and his eyes widened.

Uriel blushed. “Yeah.”

“Congrats!” Ottis beamed.

Doc looked between Uriel and Bruiser, and his eyebrows went up too.

“We’re not telling anyone yet,” Uriel said hurriedly. “I haven’t even told most of them about the omega thing.”

“Ah.” Doc nodded. “Good luck, whatever you choose.”

“Thanks.”

Uriel slipped his fingers into Bruiser’s hand, glancing at his alpha. What secret was Crush keeping from them?

Crush glanced between Uriel and Bruiser, took one sniff, and said, “Huh.”

Damn wolf shifters, always knowing things before people wanted to tell them.

Uriel folded his arms across his chest. “Ottis said you were keeping something from me.”

Crush froze, blinking once. Then he sighed, his shoulders sagging, “Dammit. I was just trying to do something nice for my omega.”

“Like what?” Bruiser growled. “What does that have to do with us?”

Crush’s omega, Killian, came to the door to check out the commotion. Then he saw Bruiser with Uriel, and his eyes went wide. “Oh.”

Crush grimaced. “I hired someone to write a book.”

Uriel’s mind was rapidly piecing things together. “About me and Bruiser?”

“You were taking really long to get together,” Killian said, looking guilty. “You were never supposed to find out about it.”

“Who did you hire to—Zenith,” Bruiser said, facepalming. “Fuck, how many people are involved in this?”
