Some of the omegas looked confused. “Firefighter? What are you doing here?”

“I’m on vacation,” Bruiser said dryly. “I rescue people like you in my free time. My—My buddy here, Uriel, he’s a mage. If you need magic help, talk to him. But first, let’s get you all out.”

The firefighting job helped with his interactions with strangers; Bruiser would’ve messed this up if he hadn’t known what to say.

Slowly, they helped the omegas out one by one. Uriel led them to a shady spot.

Their usual protocol was to call in police help for statement taking and cleanup, but that always took a while. Especially when this place was so remote; it would take the nearest squad car some time to get here, and even longer for someone who dealt with situations like these.

“I’m going to fly out and get them some food and water,” Uriel said, his phone in hand. He already had a list of requests from the omegas.

“Here.” Bruiser pulled out his wallet and withdrew two credit cards. “I’ll pay.”

The mage squinted. “Is this another dick-measuring contest?”

Bruiser rolled his eyes. “No. I’d rather be the one hauling back food and drinks, but I don’t have any transport, and I’m not going to fly your broom.”

Uriel’s stare dropped to Bruiser’s hips. “Yeah, your ass is too big. You’re going to fall right off.”

“My ass isn’t too big,” Bruiser growled. “Your broom is too small.”

Uriel groaned. “Are we seriously back on the measuring contests again?”

“You started it,” Bruiser said, hating how childish he sounded.

The mage opened his mouth. Then he shook his head and turned away. “I’m going to charge you for my time.”

“Fine,” Bruiser said.

Even though... it somehow felt right.

Unnerved by the strange thought, Bruiser rolled his eyes and shoved the cards into Uriel’s hands. “Get going. I want some real breakfast food.”

“I’m not your damn slave,” Uriel growled, but he was already mounting his broom and taking off.

The omegas were watching Bruiser when he turned back to them.

“So are you and him...?” one of them asked.

Bruiser froze, his face suddenly hot. “What? No!”

How could they even think that?

Even if he and Uriel had... compared cocks last night. That was all it was.

“Nothing’s happening between us,” Bruiser muttered, stalking away.

Behind him, the omegas giggled.

Uriel was back faster than Bruiser expected. In a hurry, the mage landed in front of the omegas and opened his travel case, pulling out several bulging bags.

“This is from the general store nearby, for those of you who can’t wait. I’m heading out to the nearest town for actual food. That’s going to take me longer.”

Bruiser eyed the baby supplies, drinks, and sandwiches the omegas were pulling out of the bags and handing around. “Did you max out my cards?”

“Not yet,” Uriel said ominously, and took off again.

“Here,” one of the omegas, Kyrie, said, handing Bruiser a bright pink pack of heart-shaped cookies. “This must be for you.”
