The Secret Omega’s Secret Baby

That sounded weird. Like Bruiser was accepting some kind of... courtship?
He opened his mouth, trying to think of a reply.
“We thought you meant for him to get them,” the nearest omega said innocently. Traitor!
Uriel gaped. His face went blotchy. “I... No! They were meant for you guys!” Then he stared at the almost-empty pack of cookies, and shot Bruiser a hairy eyeball. “You ate their cookies!”
Bruiser scowled. “Hey, I paid for them. They’re my cookies!”
“Sure. Pat yourself on the back.” Uriel huffed and turned away.
The omegas watched them, their eyes bouncing between Uriel and Bruiser like they were watching a ping-pong match.
The police finally arrived, taking away that weird tension. While they were collecting statements, Uriel scribbled on scraps of paper and handed one to each omega.
“This is my number,” Bruiser caught him saying. “If you need help dealing with everything, or if you need a friend, you know how to reach me.”
Bruiser cornered him when he was done giving out his number. “Are you hitting on all of them?”
The weird thing was, Uriel seemed to know all their friends’ omegas. Sometimes Bruiser saw him with them, like they had formed... some sort of single-dad club.
And now he was doing the same thing here.
Bruiser didn’t know what to feel about that.
Uriel rolled his eyes. “Who hits on omegas right after they’re rescued? I’m offering help. They’ll probably need it.”
“And you know that how?”
Suddenly, he remembered the scars on Uriel’s skin, the ones all over his face.
Had Uriel needed help after those injuries?
Bruiser froze. This was awkward.
Uriel stared at him for a long while. Finally, he said quietly, “Sometimes people just need help, Bruiser.”
Fuck, fuck, fuck. Uriel had needed help, and Bruiser had gone and been a total asshole in his face. He swallowed, wanting to crawl out of his skin. “I, uh.”
Uriel waved him off, turning away.
“Sorry,” Bruiser blurted. His heart thumped.
The mage paused, turning back to stare at him. “Really?”
“Yes. I’m not a complete asshole, okay?”
“Could’ve fooled me,” Uriel muttered.
Bruiser scowled, but that squirming feeling was back in his stomach again. Was he falling sick? Maybe he’d eaten something wrong.
Probably those heart-shaped cookies.
Uriel continued to walk away. Maybe it was Bruiser, but the mage’s shoulders seemed slightly less tense than before.
