Uriel still felt uneasy anyway.

Bruiser cleared his throat. When Uriel looked up, Bruiser said haltingly, “Would you like to have the bed tonight? I can take the couch.”

Uriel almost said no again. But he was exhausted, and the bed looked so comfy.

Even if it smelled like the alpha.

“We can take turns,” he said carefully. “You’ll get it back tomorrow.”

Bruiser nodded. “Okay.”

It felt fucking unreal, Bruiser being nice to him.

“Feels like you’ve been possessed,” Uriel said.

Bruiser snorted. “I could be an ass again.”

“If you’ve been an ass, does that mean the bed also smells like ass? Is that why you’re giving it up?”

The alpha rolled his eyes, but the corner of his mouth twitched up. “Feel free to check.”

“I will.” Uriel set Cassie in her playpen and went to look in the fridge for leftovers.

“I could have something delivered,” Bruiser said.

Still so weird.

Uriel shook his head. “This is faster. No matter how good they are, they can’t get hot spaghetti to me in three minutes.”

He pulled out the box of brownie though, and popped it in the microwave first.

Bruiser huffed. Uriel raised an eyebrow.

“No, it’s just,” Bruiser said. “Such an omega thing to do. Eat dessert first.”

Somehow, that made Uriel self-conscious, but in a vaguely pleasant way. His cheeks warmed. It felt... nice, being acknowledged as an omega. It felt like he could stretch out in his skin again, and be who he was.

Bruiser didn’t make a big fuss about it. He went around checking the doors and windows, and when Uriel’s brownie was done reheating, Bruiser grabbed one of the boxes of leftovers from the fridge.

This time, he checked it first before microwaving it. Uriel coughed.

“I learn my lessons,” Bruiser said.

“Hmm.” Maybe.

When Bruiser’s spaghetti was done reheating, he set it down on the table. And paused. “I could... boil some of the noodles, get them softer, if Cassie wants any.”

Uriel’s eyebrows shot up. “Really?”

Bruiser nodded. He almost seemed... shy?

“If that’s what you want,” Uriel said. No alpha had volunteered to do things for Cassie before.

Sure enough, Bruiser found a saucepan in the cabinets. He filled it with water and set it to boil, standing by the stove and eating his reheated dinner. When the water was ready, he got a new box of leftovers, and dropped some noodles into the pot.

Uriel finished his brownie. Then he looked at his empty box and sighed.

“I could order more brownies, if you want,” Bruiser said. “Ice cream too.”
