“This won’t be good.”
“Yeah, no shit.”
I don’t know what it is about Taylor and Huck, but whenever they cross paths, violence ensues. Sometimes, it’s entertaining, but other times, it’s...messy. Like prom our senior year of high school. Taylor’s kind of an asshole.
“How much do you want to bet someone gets punched?” I mutter, and Matty shakes his head.
“Nah, Taylor’s not like that anymore. I bet nothing happens.”
“We’ll see.”
Right on cue, Taylor says some shit that causes Huckslee’s friend to jump from his seat and aim for a punch. I’m about to tell Matty to pay up as we head over with Christian, but to my fucking surprise, Huckslee holds his friend back from landing the blow.
Dammit. I wanted to win.
Not that I condone violence. Taylor may be a motherfucker, but he’s our motherfucker, and I’ll hurt anyone who touches him.
Just as we reach them, the bar’s bouncer defuses the situation. I give Huckslee a glare when we all head to the pool tables in the back, just to let him know not to fuck with us. He’s not a particularly bad guy, but I’m not very fond of him either. I’m not fond of many people, honestly, not even my friends half the time, except for Matty.
While Taylor racks up the pool balls, Christian brings over the group of ladies who were eyeing my best friend, and I immediately check out of the conversation. Watching these fuckers pick up chicks for threesomes is boring as hell, and they do it constantly. Typical douchebag manwhore bullshit. I’m about to leave for some air when Matty pulls me back by the arm.
“Where are you going? We’re stripes. It’s our turn.”
“It’s hot as fuck in here,” I mutter, even though I feel just fine.
Christian snickers from where he’s currently kissing a girl’s neck. “Maybe you should take off that jacket and get comfortable, homie.”
Rolling my eyes, I flip him off as Matty steps into my space.
“So I won that bet back there,” he starts, a mischievous glint in his eyes that has my pulse kicking up a notch.
“Pfft, barely. If it weren’t for Huckslee, Taylor would have gotten his ass kicked.”
He shrugs, smiling. “Still won. What’s my prize?”
His gaze falls to my lips, and I swallow hard, suddenly feeling like maybe it is too hot in here after all.
“I dunno, Matthew, what do you want?”
Glancing over his shoulder, he checks to ensure our friends are occupied before grabbing my wrist. “Come on.”
He drags me toward the employee exit, cold March air hitting us as we exit into an alley in between buildings. His hands press me into the wall as he dives for my mouth, and I part for him easily, the taste and feel of his tongue now as familiar to me as my own.
“Fuck, Ducky,” he groans, nibbling my lip before working his way down my jaw. “I’ve been thinking about kissing you all day.”
I snort, slipping my palms under his ridiculous sweater to feel his muscled chest. “You have been kissing me all day. We’ve literally spent it together.”
“Not the whole day.” He nuzzles into my neck, his lips moving softly against my skin. “There was that time you were sleeping and that other time when you wouldn’t let me in the bathroom with you.”
“Matthew, I’m not shitting in front of you. We’re close, but not that close.”
With a laugh, he plants a wet kiss on my nose before dropping to his knees, and I cough in surprise as I gape at him.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Claiming my prize.” Running his fingers up my thighs, he gazes at me from beneath his lashes, a teasing smile on his face. “Can I, Xed? Please?”
Oh, fuck.
