My eyes snap back up.
Only to land on the yellow top hugging her curves.
She’s been eating. I made sure of that, and even though I still haven’t seen her cook, her skin looks healthier and her smile comes easier now.
She’s gorgeous…
Fuck.
I turn away and put my coffee on the counter.
What the hell was that?
I stare at the cup like it personally offended me.
This is Damiano’s wife.
My best friend’s wife.
Nora.
That’s it.
I know she’s beautiful. I have eyes. I’ve always known she’s beautiful.
But knowing it and noticing it are two very different things.
And I have no fucking business noticing.
I look up at the ceiling.
Seriously?
Of all the women in the world, this is who my brain decides to notice?
I hear her moving behind me and grab my coffee again, mostly because I need something to do with my hands.
“Ready,” she says.
I turn around.
Eyes on her face.
Good plan.
“Let’s go.”
It comes out harsher than I intended.
Her eyebrows lift.
Not her fault my brain decided to notice things it has no business noticing.
“Lead the way, Grumpy.”
She walks past me.
I shake my head and follow.
