He shrugs.

Of course he fucking shrugs.

I look back down at the papers, running my eyes over the destination again.

Italy.

Home.

“I can't accept this.”

“Yeah, you can.”

“Jude, this must've cost…”

“Don't.”

“Don't what?”

“Make it about money.”

I close my mouth, and he looks towards the parking lot for a moment before meeting my eyes again.

“You told me you needed to find a job before you could go.”

My throat tightens.

He remembered.

“And Damiano wanted you to see Sicily.”

I look down at the tickets again, thinking about the trip Damiano and I were supposed to take and all the places he wanted to show me.

“Jude…” I whisper.

I look up, and his green eyes are on me, serious and knowing.

“Why is my sister's name on here too?”

He smiles. “You may need a shoulder there. Won't be easy.”

I swallow, looking down at the papers again, and that's when I notice something else. He's arranged for one more person to come with us, but the passenger details have been left open for me to choose.

“What's this?”

Jude hesitates before giving me another little shrug.

“Thought you might want someone else there. Your mom, dad…”

I look up, but he's avoiding my eyes now, and I study him for a moment before asking the question that's already forming in my mind.

“You?”
