He took his shirt off earlier.
Of course he did. We're at the beach. That's a perfectly normal thing for a man to do at the beach. What isn't normal is whatever the hell my stomach does when I see him.
I knew he was built. Obviously. The man trains horses for a living, and I've seen his arms enough times to know there's a lot going on under those T-shirts, but this feels like information I did not need.
Broad shoulders, tanned skin, that stupid V disappearing into his swim shorts and an actual six-pack because apparently God has favorites.
I stare. I actually fucking stare, right up until Jude turns and his eyes find mine.
Shit.
I look away so fast my neck almost hurts.
What the hell was that?
Heat crawls up my chest and into my face, which is ridiculous because I'm standing in the freaking sea, so I dunk myself underwater again.
Maybe I can drown whatever that was.
I stay down for a few seconds before coming back up, but nope. Still fucking there. My heart is beating too fast, and there's this strange warmth low in my stomach that makes panic crawl right behind it.
No. Absolutely not.
I look toward Chiara and find her talking to Lexy.
Good. Nobody saw.
I risk another glance toward the beach and find Jude talking to Dex now. That's when I notice two women walking along the shore, and apparently I'm not the only person who noticed the shirtless cowboys. One of them looks at him, then looks again. Her friend says something that makes them both laugh before she turns her head toward Jude one more time.
Something sharp twists in my stomach.
Oh, come on. Keep walking.
I blink at my own thought.
Excuse me, Nora? What the hell was that?
Then the woman smiles in Jude's direction, and I suddenly hate her.
I don't know this woman. She could rescue puppies in her free time, donate half her salary to orphans and spend every Sunday feeding the homeless.
I still hate her.
“Nora?”
I turn to find Lexy watching me. “What?”
Her lips twitch. “Nothing.”
I narrow my eyes at her. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I'm not looking at you like anything.”
“Yes, you are.”
She bites her lip, and my stomach drops.
Oh God. She saw.
