Seeing Jude riding Indigo, his Stetson on his head, those broad shoulders and green eyes so full of emotion, made me want to run into his arms and never let go again.
Now his lips are on mine, making my toes curl. He’s all around me, and I realise how much I’ve missed him. How right this feels.
“I love you, Grumpy.”
“I love you, short stuff.”
He smiles against my lips, then kisses me again, and this time the fire ignites. His hand slides up the back of my neck, beneath my hair, making goosebumps rise as his other hand presses against my back, drawing me closer.
We lose ourselves in each other. His taste, his scent, his warmth. I can’t get enough of him.
“Jude,” I whisper against his lips.
“I know, baby.”
He slides his hands beneath my ass and picks me up. My legs wrap around him, his lips never leaving mine until his mouth travels down my neck.
“I need you.”
A sound rumbles low in his chest, and God, that sound does things to me.
“Nora.”
“Don’t you dare stop now.”
His laugh brushes against my skin. “Wasn’t planning on it.”
He starts walking, leaving my backpack and phone forgotten on the ground. I don’t care. I need him, and Jude carries me like I weigh absolutely nothing.
“Where are we going?”
He pulls back just enough to look at me. “Inside.”
“Good.”
“Good?”
“Unless you want our reunion to become tonight’s entertainment at the B&B.”
His mouth twitches. “Fuck no.”
“Then walk faster, cowboy.”
That earns me the full smile. God, I missed that smile. I kiss it before it disappears.
Somehow we make it inside without either of us falling over, although Jude nearly walks straight into the damn door because apparently kissing me is more important than looking where he’s going.
“Careful, Grumpy.”
“You’re distracting.”
“Sounds like a you problem.”
“Nine months and you’re still a pain in my ass.”
“You love me.”
He stops right there with me still wrapped around him. His eyes find mine.
