“I don’t fight, Knox. I execute.”
“Fuck, that’s so sexy,” Knox groans, pulling me into another kiss, and I kiss him right back.
“—Wait!” I move away. “What else did you tell Björn and Finnian about me?”
“No fucking way I’m telling you.”
“Seriously—”
“Mark! Have you seen the extra radios?” a voice yells from behind the balcony door, and we both freeze.
Oh, shit!
“We’d better get out of here before anyone finds us,” Knox whispers.
“Great idea… but how? We are on a balcony.”
“I’ll admit that was a bit of an oversight,” he says, looking around for an escape plan.
“Or,” I trail my fingers over his arm. “We can stay trapped here until the party ends.”
“Stop tempting me, Succubus. We’re lucky we haven’t been caught yet.” Knox leans over the stone balustrade, scanning the area before pointing down. “See that? That suite is fourteen feet down, and it has a wrap-around balcony.”
I take a peek and laugh. “Sure, because I’m so good at jumping fourteen feet at a time.”
“I can lower you down.”
I stare at him, then at the balcony below us, and then back at his face, my mouth hanging open. “You want to lower me down fourteen feet while hanging from a balcony?”
“Yeah.”
“Who are you? Aladdin?”
“Not sure I have a magic carpet, but I have an IKEA rug and can sing all of Jasmine’s parts.” He grins. “Would that work?”
“You know and sing Disney songs?”
“Of course. Damián has a five-year-old nephew.” Knox slides his arms around me, pulling me tight against his chest, and kisses me softly. “Ready to jump, my Princess Jasmine?”
“I would, but there is a tiny problem… Jasmine weighs like one hundred and twenty pounds, and I weigh one hundred and fifty.”
Knox points back at the stone pillar I was pressed against just moments ago. “I think I just proved how well I can hold your weight,” he says, watching my face turn red. “Besides, I’m used to carrying my own weight in training, and I beat you by ninety pounds.”
I take a deep breath. “Okay. Let’s do it.”
Knox scans the area, mapping the drop, our position, and his leverage.
“Alright. Turn around. I’ll take your weight under your arms. Keep your body straight and don’t kick. I’ll get you as low as I can.”
I nod, trust and adrenaline surging through my veins. I turn, and Knox climbs the balustrade and sits on it, one leg on each side.
Then, he grips me firmly under my arms, and his hands lock around my chest.
“Ready?” he murmurs close to my ear.
“Ready.”
In one movement, he lifts me off the floor and hoists me over him.
