“Where is Cillian?!” I roar, scanning the room.
“We don’t know!” Leif yells back, his hands pooling with blood.
“Is Finni okay?” I ask Björn.
“Yeah, he’s just unconscious,” Björn answers, carrying Finnian to the bed. “We’ve been trying to call you guys for the last five minutes.”
“Comms are down,” I say, dropping to my knees beside Leif.
I toss one of the radios to Björn, then clip the other onto Leif’s belt, shoving the earpiece into his ear.
Then, I press my radio. “Tae! Master suite, now! Stab wound to the abdomen.” I turn to the twins. “What the fuck happened here?”
“We don’t know,” Leif grits out, his face pale. “We heard the shooting outside, came to secure the room, and found them like this, with Julian and Cillian gone.”
“Fuck!” I slam my fist against the floor, then press the radio. “Harknetts, primary is missing. Alexios, check surveillance right now. I want to know who took them and where!”
“On it,” he answers through the static.
“Knox, is Finni okay?” Logan asks, terrified.
I press my radio. “He’s unconscious, Logan. But alive.”
There is silence over the line.
So much silence I can tell how Logan must be feeling… Finni is one of us.
He is family, and I know Logan wants to run to him, but he can’t leave his post.
None of us Harknett can, or else the island falls.
I look around frantically for clues or something that could tell me where Cillian is and how the hell they were taken.
But there’s nothing…
Then I see the balcony.
I run out onto the terrace and spot a smear of blood on the railing, then another on the balcony directly below, and another on the floor beneath that.
“Whoever took Cillian, they went out through the balcony,” I tell the twins.
“Why take Julian, though?” Leif asks, looking up at me. “He serves no purpose to the stalker.”
“He does… Cillian would do anything for his friends. Even comply. They probably couldn’t take Leo because he was already bleeding out on the floor… Still, something is off. I just don’t know what.”
I begin to fidget nervously.
My right leg shakes, and my palms get sweaty.
Come on, Alexios…
Hurry the fuck up!
COUGH! COUGH!
Leo’s eyes open and he coughs blood, his hand shaking in panic.
“It’s okay, Leo, keep still, Tae’s almost here,” Leif urges, pressing harder into the wound.
