Cillian jerks his head around, blinking in shock as he notices an extra hospital bed the staff squeezed into the VIP room.
Leo is propped up against the pillows, grinning at us like an idiot.
“Leo!” Cillian yelps, choking from the shock.
“Oh, God, please don’t die!” Leo gasps dramatically. “After everything the Harknetts did to keep you alive, they would chop me into tiny pieces if you died because I made you laugh.”
“But how is this possible? You were bleeding so much.”
“Well, Tae performed surgery on me… on your room’s floor.”
“He what?!”
“Yeah…” Leo grins, scratching the back of his head. “You might wanna throw away that carpet.”
Cil turns to me, his face looking a little less pale. “And Finnian?”
“Also okay,” I assure him.
“Just go by the obvious Disney rule, Cil,” Leo says, waving his hand dismissively.
“The hell is that?”
“Good guys alive and bad guys dead. Disney rule.” Leo points at me. “Even this gigantic Prince Charming woke you up with a kiss.”
“It’s called CPR.” I glare at Leo, and Cillian bursts out laughing.
God, it feels so good to hear him laugh.
To see him happy and alive.
Cillian turns to me and holds my hand. “But Knox…”
“Yes, Prince?”
“Why… are you dressed as a shark?” Cillian asks, and Leo bursts out laughing again.
“Oh, my God! I also thought I had died when I opened my eyes and saw Knox walking in wearing that shark onesie.”
“I’m wearing this because Björn is an asshole.”
“I am an asshole,” says Björn as he and most of the Harknett team walk into the VIP hospital room. “But you are also enormous, and you were bloody and wet. Do you know how many stores around here sell clothes in size enormous?”
“One?” I ask, already knowing the answer.
“Exactly one: Snuggle Paws onesies.” He points at my onesie, and I can see Cillian biting his lip, trying his hardest to suppress a laugh.
“So, of course you had to go buy something there.” I glare at the Viking, and the bastard grins.
“Look, it was Snuggle Paws, or wait at least seven hours to drive home, get you a change of clothes, and come back.”
“This works fine,” I laugh, my fingers sliding over Cillian’s hand.
But as soon as Cil feels my hand, he flinches and pulls his away. “Sorry…” he whispers. “…Your team saw.”
I lean toward Cillian and press a soft kiss to his lips. “They already know I’m in love with you.”
“Oh… okay, in that case—” Cil chokes again, his head snapping toward me. “—you what?!”
