“And I love you, my annoying, sexy cargo.”
Cillian suddenly jumps on top of me and smiles. “Oh, you wanna see how annoying I am?”
“God, no! Last time you were annoying, I was hard for almost an hour, and—ah—” I groan, caught between pleasure, sheer agony, and the knowledge that I finally found the man I was born to protect.
EPILOGUE
A month later…
Today, all the Harknetts, Finni, and I are reunited at Chapters & Crumbs to celebrate Leo’s release from the hospital.
You would think the man would be miserable after almost being stabbed to death by a monster, but he’s ecstatic.
I’m not kidding.
It looks like he’s at a convention for his favorite show because he is smiling, cheering, and fangirling hard.
Not to mention, he’s obsessed with the fact that Tae saved his life by performing surgery on him on my room’s floor.
In fact, he’s so obsessed that he tells everyone about it… even the cashier at 7-Eleven.
Poor lady almost had a heart attack in the middle of the story.
Still, I am happy he is happy, and most of all, that he is alive.
I look around the bakery and see everyone.
Even Oliver, Damián’s fiancé, who just got back from Italy after smuggling four refugees, is here.
Sorry… “ethical smuggling,” as he calls it.
It is actually nice to see Damián this happy and in love. That man might look like a player, but he drools over his future hubby.
I take a deep breath and smile.
I love this.
I love my boyfriend, his friends, and the fact that I am finally free.
DING!
The bell over the door chimes, and I look back to see my friend Ellis walking inside with River Woods, Leo’s cousin and one of the best cops in New York.
River and Ellis walk right up to me, and River grins.
Unlike Leo, who is petite and delicate, River is an absolute beast. He is tall, almost as tall as the twins, tanned, with brown eyes, a bunch of tattoos, and shaggy blond hair.
He is the epitome of the fuckboy vibe.
“Hey, Cil,” Ellis says.
“Thanks for coming,” I reply, hugging him.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world. How is Leo doing?”
I glance over at Leo, who is laughing and talking animatedly with Alexios and Law. “I think he’s happier than ever.”
“I still can’t believe Julian was…” Ellis trails off.
