“Don’t even fucking say it…” I warn him, and he bursts out laughing.

“I wasn’t going to.”

“Sure you weren’t…”

“Come on, little Prince. Let’s get you home.”

“Can we say goodbye to the rest?”

“Five minutes,” Knox says, taking my arm and leading us out of the back room.

When we reach the VIP section, we find Julian and Leo fighting a drunk man. The man, a notorious trust-fund seeker, is leaning over our table, holding my bottle of ’82 Château Margaux.

“Stop taking things that don’t belong to you,” Julian yells, snatching the bottle out of the man’s grip.

“He’s a fucking rich kid!” the drunkard slurs. “It’s his obligation to share!”

Ellis frowns, crossing his arms. “So others’ wealth becomes a problem when it’s not directed to you?”

“Fuck you!” the man spits out. “Give me the bottle, and you can have the man if you want.”

Knox and I arrive at the table.

“The fuck is going on in here?” Knox growls.

Julian looks relieved and hands me the opened bottle. “Sorry, Cil. He tried to steal it.”

“Thanks, Julian.” I move to grab the bottle, but the drunk man snatches it and starts chugging it.

“Whoa!” I jump back, pulling Ellis with me so he doesn’t get caught in the mess the drunk man is causing.

“Hahahahaha! Fuck you and your wine, Cillian.” The man laughs, and it sounds creepy as fuck.

But then, the bottle slips from his grip and smashes on the floor. His eyes roll back into his head, and his body goes completely limp as he crashes face-first onto the floor.

A woman nearby screams at the top of her lungs.

“What happened?” I gasp, instinctively moving toward him to help, but Knox’s arm curls around my waist and hauls me toward him.

“Tae!” Knox yells, and Tae runs past us, drops to his knees, and checks the man.

Tae looks up at Knox and shakes his head. “Get him out of here.”

Knox doesn’t hesitate.

He wraps his body around me, turns us around, and pushes through the crowd.

He taps his ear comm. “Alexios, we have a Code Black. We need extraction right fucking now.”

Knox pushes the door open, and we exit onto the main road.

It’s easier to breathe out here, but we are also out in the open and far too vulnerable.

“Wait, my friends!” I yell, trying to look back over Knox’s shoulder.

“They’re fine!” Knox growls, keeping his body pressed against mine.

“No, Knox!” I beg, but Knox doesn’t stop. “Please! They’re the only family I have left.”
