I moved so he could answer, but he declined the call and put the phone back down.
“You can call him back if you need to,” I offered.
“He’ll text me if it’s something.”
“Everything is something with y’all.”
Justice laughed and pulled me back against him.
“You complaining?”
“A little.”
“Keep going. I like hearing your voice.”
I lifted my head to look at him. He was propped against the pillows in a black T-shirt, looking far too pleased with himself for somebody who had barely been still all day.
“That’s all I got for now. Are you excited about tomorrow?” I asked him.
“Hell yeah. This is going to put us on the map. This will bring more major fights and events to the DC area. Everything needs to go smoothly. I got a lot of heavy hitters and high rollers coming to town. Are you sure you don’t want to go?” he asked me again.
“You’ve asked me about three times and I keep saying no. Me and Keenan have a lot to catch up on. I’m not ready to be at an event like that,” I admitted.
As bad as I would’ve liked to have a night out with Justice, I just wasn’t feeling up to it. I was grieving my parents all over again. Though I was happy Roman and Julian were gone, I still had to fully process it. I wasn’t sure how my sister was going to react.
And lastly, I didn’t want to miss any more time with my son than I already had.
“It would be fly to have you on my arm. Wearing something sexy like that dress you wore at the last party you came to. But I understand.” He leaned forward and kissed me.
“Thank you for understanding. I’ll be ready for the next one.” I leaned in and kissed him.
We were tangled in the sheets and I had on one of his T-shirts. He was wearing a pair of Ralph Lauren boxers, but his bare chest was mine to lie against.
Unfortunately this was temporary. Soon his little hellion would be home and I couldn’t be here for that. I didn’t want Keenan around that. Justice was still struggling with finding out that she wasn’t his daughter, but I saw him push the thoughts to the back of his mind.
He felt responsible for her and he knew that he had to do something about her. He knew that two weeks in a facility wasn’t going to fix her. Nothing could fix her.
But killing a child was a delicate thing. If she went missing, the school would want to know what happened. A mysterious death would be investigated. But Justice was smart. He’d figure it out.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked, holding me closer.
“How I don’t want this to end.”
“It may pause but it’ll never end,” he replied.
He kissed me again; this time, his tongue collided with mine. His lips sent shockwaves throughout my body and I wanted him right now. Keenan was on the other side in my old room. We had to be quiet but it was after 1:00 am, he was probably sleep.
He wrestled with my shirt as we coordinated on lifting it over my head, revealing my swollen breasts. I felt his hands cup them, rubbing his thumbs over my nipples before taking one into his mouth.
“Hmmm,” I moaned. They were sensitive and just the touch of his tongue hardened them enough to cut glass.
As he suckled my breasts, he lowered himself between my thighs. Teasingly, he kissed my inner thighs, which made me beg for more.
“Please,” I whispered.
“Please what?” He looked up at me.
“Taste me.”
