“I’m trying to keep Deacon focused. He wants this. He just gotta stay focused.”

The fight with Raul was a few weeks away, and my family was putting our name and money behind it. This was supposed to be a major event for the casino.

I wanted Deacon to win but I needed him to make it to the damn cage first.

“Aight man. We hired this new fight promoter who did promo out in Vegas. They’ll be a lot of celebrities in the building.”

“I promise he’ll be ready. Shit, he’s ready now. But I’ll make sure there are no PR issues ahead of time,” he assured me.

“You the only one he listens to.”

“Sometimes he listens to our mother,” he laughed. “But what’s been good with you? You seem a lil agitated?” He asked.

“Family shit.”

“Your kids?” He pried.

“Yeah. Raising daughters is no joke. But let me ask you a question.”

“What?” He leaned forward.

“Your cousin Tavares, the one who’s about to get out…”

“What? You wanna give him a job here or something? I don’t fuckin’ suggest it,” he shook his head in disgust.

“Nah, nothing like that but how long he been in prison?” I asked. I remembered that Melody mentioned him at the cafe. Priest had mentioned him a few weeks back. It may or may not be the same person. Though that name isn’t common.

“About fourteen years. Manslaughter charge. But he used to be into some heavy shit. Manslaughter was the least of what he’s done. That’s just all the cops got on him. Why you askin’ about him?”

“Have you ever heard of him being with Monica?”

He looked at me, raising an eyebrow. “Your Monica?”

“Yeah? Maybe about sixteen years ago?”

“I ain’t never heard nothing like that. But, he wasn’t exactly open with me about the bitches — excuse me, the women he fucked. We weren’t all that close. No disrespect. I ain’t mean to call Monica a bitch but weren’t you two together sixteen years ago?”

“Tuh,” I laughed and shook my head.

“Damn,” he groaned.

“Well, I ain’t gon’ hold you. We need to discuss a few logistics then I’mma head down the hall to talk to Quest.”

We discussed the upcoming fight and everything surrounding it. Priest was a good dude, who came from a prominent family. But he wasn’t to be fucked with, as was the rest of his family, especially Deacon.

Once our meeting was over, I handled a few other tasks. I then mailed the paternity sample and made my way to her.

I’d been thinking about her since I left her yesterday. I had a couple of hours before I had to be back home and I was going to enjoy them with her.

We lay tangled in the sheets after several rounds of orgasms. Desperately, I needed to replace all the fluids I’d dispersed. But I was too enamored to get out of bed. He made me forget all of my needs.

Justice pulled me closer when I shifted against him, keeping his arm around my waist.

“Where you going?”
