Kodiak tipped a beer to his smirking lips. “I’m guessing you’re the friend he met up with the other night.” He accurately made the assumption about where I’d spent the night.
“Ignore him,” I said to Jaymi. “He’s salty because he doesn’t have friends.”
“I’d have time for friends if I wasn’t working nights.”
“Bullet’s kittens are your only friends,” Pike said. “I heard you were working overtime at Good Girl Studios making another filthy fairy tale.”
Kodiak smiled as he sipped his beer. “Goldilocks took three bears.”
Vega laughed. “They couldn’t cast you for the part, Pike. You don’t have enough hair on your chest.”
“What are we talking about?” Brenna asked. “Friends or lays?”
“Jesus.” Maybe it wasn’t the best decision to bring her here. “Ignore all of them,” I said to Jaymi.
Kodiak’s gaze met mine. “Clover was Goldilocks.”
Why was he staring me down? I didn’t care if he fucked Clover on camera. I wouldn’t care if he fucked her in the middle of the MC. She wasn’t my old lady and never would be.
“Clover was here earlier with Bristol,” Brenna said and glanced around the room.
“Probably looking for a ride.” Vega put his cue stick back in the rack. “On a Heller or on a Harley.”
Probably looking for me. I needed to make it clear to her that the benefit part of friends with benefits was done. She wouldn’t care. We were never going to be anything more. Neither one of us was interested in permanent.
My hand rested on Jaymi’s hip, and hers was on my thigh. Fuck me, but I shouldn’t want this either. But I did. I wanted to be there for Jaymi. Not just as a friend. I wanted her in my bed.
“You okay?” she whispered, and I nodded.
“Only thing Kodiak’s riding is his Harley.” McKelle smirked then turned to Jaymi. “Do you play?”
“Um…no.”
“Want to learn?”
“I’ll just watch.”
I swallowed the rest of my drink. “Come on. I’ll help you.” I set the empty glass on the table and held my hand out to her. I grabbed a cue stick from the wall as McKelle racked the balls.
“You can break,” McKelle said and stepped away from the table. “Are we making any bets on the game?”
“No,” Jaymi said with a laugh. “Unless you want to bet that I don’t sink a single ball.”
I glanced over at McKelle. “Ten bucks says she drops a solid on the break.”
“Don’t bet,” Jaymi hissed. “You’ll lose. Considering our situations, we both have shit luck.”
“In one area, my luck has been pretty fucking good.” I brushed a quick kiss to her lips. “Trust me.” I stood at the end of the pool table and handed Jaymi the stick. “You want to hit the cue ball hard enough to get a good break, but not so hard you lose control of the ball. If you can hit the number one ball in the center, you’ll pocket both second-row balls.”
We shifted around to the side of the table, and I slid in behind her as she held the stick. “But we should go for the easy corner pocket.”
The soft scent of her perfume lingered on her skin. I rested one hand against the edge of the pool table and slid my other hand onto her ass. I aligned my body with hers, keeping my face next to her shoulder.
“Was this your plan?” she whispered as she backed against my groin.
I hummed a short positive sound as I pointed out how she should line up her shot. “Nice and easy.” I pointed to the five ball on the second row. “Hit it hard enough to push the two ball into the corner pocket.”
She glanced over her shoulder. “Really?”
