Sevyn Days of Christmas

Letting go of his hand, Sevyn brushed her fingertips against the rough wood. “What’s it going to be when you’re done?”

“A china cabinet. I would have wrapped it up a while ago but my client is old, picky as fuck, and calls every other day with a different set of changes. I’m about to start charging her ass for each adjustment.”

Sevyn’s lips curled in amusement. “No, you’re not.”

“How you figure that?” Dallas challenged, wrapping his arms around her waist.

“It’s not in your nature. You’re going to complain, but you have too big of a heart to charge an old lady extra.”

“You don’t know me.”

“Don’t I?” She gently forced her elbow back into his abdomen. Prying herself out of his arms, she touched the wood again. “I swear, I’ll never know how you manage to take such ugly things and turn them into works of art.”

“Well,” Dallas replied softly, placing his hand over hers. “It takes patience, dedication, time, and a lot of love.” He guided her hand with each word he spoke, allowing her a chance to feel each groove and dip in the wood. “It’s frustrating, and a lot of hard work but the result is beautiful and will always be worth it.”

Their eyes locked, and Dallas slowly pulled his hand off of hers, cupping her chin.

“Dal,” Sevyn exhaled slowly.

“What?”

“Kiss me.”

He didn’t need to be told twice. Sevyn completely forgot where they were as their lips collided furiously. Turning just enough so the two were facing one another, she threw her arms around his neck, melting into his body.

It was just the two of them. Nothing else mattered… until the door of the shop opened and closed loudly.

They broke apart and Dallas licked his lips, keeping her pinned beneath his stare. “I’ll be right back.”

Sevyn was so off-balance that the only thing she could do was nod. Dallas disappeared, but the time that he was gone wasn’t enough for her to pull it together. There was no talking sense into herself.

Everything that she’d been fighting since they were at her house had come to the forefront and was out to play. As promised, Dallas returned quickly and Sevyn was ready, willing, and waiting for whatever else the night had in store for them.
