“What did you hear, Beck?” Noah asks when he continues to remain silent.

Beck cocks an eyebrow. “Taking my job from me?”

Noah shakes his head. “No, I could never do what you do as well as you do it. But I would like to know what you heard.”

I pulse my hand against Noah’s so he can feel I’m here with him. I want to know the same thing from the man who’s managed to get into our hearts so quickly.

“Okay.” Beck exhales, sitting up straighter on the couch. His eyes connect solely with mine. “I heard that you don’t want what we’ve been experiencing together to end after the retreat, that you want to keep seeing me and explore where things could go.”

“Yes,” I reply. “But not just our experiences—our relationship.”

There’s a heavy pause before Beck gestures from him to us. “Is that what this is? A relationship?”

I stand up from the mat and make my way to the couch. I don’t sit next to him, feeling heat creep up my body that feels a lot like frustration.

“What else would it be?” I ask. “And if you say it didn’t mean anything or it was just a fun time, I’ll call your bullshit right now. Because nothing about what we’ve been doing together has felt that way—at least not to me.”

“Or me,” Noah adds, getting up to come stand on the other side of me.

Beck swallows, looking up at us. “Did you two talk about it?”

“If by it you mean the three of us being together, Noah and I haven’t had a discussion,” I reply.

“So you both just decided right now that you want a relationship with me without speaking to each other?”

I sit next to him on the couch, the heat of his leg seeping into mine. “Are you mad at us for some reason?”

Beck drags a hand over his beard. “I’m sorry if I’m coming across angry. It’s just…we’ve moved fast, and there’s a lot we haven’t talked about.”

“Then why did you rush out this morning when we could have talked? I know you said you had work, but you didn’t, did you?”

Noah sits on Beck’s other side, and the man between us leans back on the couch, looking down at his hands. “No, I didn’t.”

“Then why did you leave?” I ask again.

“Because you said something.” His shoulders drop inward.

I rack my brain, but nothing upsetting stands out. “What did I say?”

“That you could get used to our morning together, what we did.” He looks to Noah. “And you agreed.”

I furrow my brow. “I was telling the truth. I could get used to it. The night we shared before falling asleep together and waking up to the both of you, it was more than I could have imagined. It was—” Emotion sticks in my throat, thick like peanut butter, and I can’t say any more.

“It was exactly how we want to spend our nights and mornings,” Noah finishes for me.

I look up at him with glassy eyes, and a new understanding passes between us, one unspoken since our first night with Beck. We both want him, and not just because he adds to our marriage in ways I could have never imagined, but because he’s Beck—funny, kind, smart. He brings out the best in both me and Noah, and I crave to spend more time with him, to know everything about him.

“It’s not that simple,” Beck says. “This is just one week.”

“I know. That’s why I said my hope for the future is that we get to see where this goes,” I say.

“Beck.” Noah takes his hand. “I understand you’re hesitant, and if I was you, I would be, too, especially after what I said and did to you the last time we saw each other. But I’ve changed. I want you. Quinn and I both want you. So I hope you’ll hear us when we say we both want to see what the future holds.”

Beck’s jaw tenses, his gaze serious. “There was a time when that was all I wanted you to say to me.”

My stomach flips at his tone, and my heart pumps so fast it pounds in my ears.

“I’m sorry I didn’t say it when I should have, that I didn’t give us a chance or believe in us like you did. But this is our second chance.” Noah looks over at me, eyes shining. “And we get to do it with the best woman on the planet.”
