“If I’d left you collapsed on the floor, you’d have survived?”

“I have on other occasions. This would be no different.” He doubted those words. That pain in his head had been killer. It would have taken days to regain his strength after that attack. The pain had been getting worse for months, but he’d hidden it from everyone, including Booby. She had her suspicions, but he’d never confirmed them.

Sinead placed a hand on his chest. “Tell me how to help.”

“You’ve done enough.” He felt the warmth of her skin pressed against him, and his resolve weakened. “There’s nothing more you need to do.”

Her eyes glittered. “No, you’re not getting out of this. I’m here. Use me.”

Talyn gritted his teeth and looked away. This wasn’t a mess for Sinead to fix. There were other ways to deal with this. Other ways that wouldn’t darken Sinead’s thoughts and make her think less of him.

“I’ve already said I’ve got a handle on this.”

She jabbed a finger into his arm. “I will keep prodding. You’re going to get me to—”

Talyn covered her mouth with his. This wasn’t a long-term solution, but it was the only thing he could think of to stop her from trying to help.

If he could distract her from what was going on, it would give him time to figure out a solution.

Sinead’s startled yelp was muffled as Talyn rolled her onto her back, pinned her arms above her head, and lost himself in the warm, sweet taste of her mouth.

Chapter 11

This was so inappropriate and so amazingly good. At the back of her mind, Sinead knew Talyn was distracting her from the real problem, but she didn’t care.

He kissed her like she was the most amazing thing he’d ever tasted. His tongue met hers, their lips melding as the weight of his body pressed her into the bed. His very naked body. She could feel Talyn was enjoying himself from the erection pinned between them.

Sinead groaned with pleasure as the kiss deepened. She wiggled her wrists from Talyn’s grip and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him even closer.

An explosion of peace throbbed through her. It was mingled with desire for him, her sexy, complicated alien mate. Sparks of white light flashed behind her closed eyes like fireworks. Making out with a guy had never been this incredible. It must be their connection, the way they fed off each other’s emotions, bringing out the good sensations and dampening the unpleasant voices.

Sinead didn’t want to puzzle through why Talyn’s kiss made her whole body molten with desire. All she knew was that he washed away every fear and worry she had. She wanted to drink in Talyn’s taste and have his tongue explore her mouth for hours.

She traced her fingers up and down his spine and felt his shoulders bunch and the muscles flex as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

Talyn pulled back for a second and gazed into her eyes. The passion in them made her tremble.

“Don’t stop.” She pulled him back on top of her, feeling ridiculously grateful when he carried on, his chest against hers and one hand wrapped in her hair.

Sinead never moved this fast with a guy. She’d known Talyn for three days, but they’d been an incredible three days. A life changing three days. If she let him in, was this alien going to change her life?

Her breath hitched in her throat as his mouth left hers. Talyn’s tongue trailed down her neck as his fingers eased her bra strap off her shoulder. He tasted her skin, slowly at first, gentle kisses that ignited a fire in her core.

His mouth moved over the fabric of her bra. He kissed a hard nipple, his tongue flicking over the fabric and making her gasp.

If being joined to Talyn as his mate meant this every night, she needed to rethink her options. They could spend the rest of their lives together, doing this. Feeling bliss.

Her brain froze as reality hit. She was his mate. She’d signed a Lillip contract that joined them for life. It would be forever. Forever with one guy.

Sinead pressed her hands against Talyn’s chest. “Give me a second.” She shuffled into a sitting position, making sure she was no longer touching him. She needed a clear head. She couldn’t do this. She wasn’t a one-man woman.

Her mom had told her so many times to keep looking for perfection. It was out there. And what had she done? Gotten saddled to a guy she barely knew and signed away her life of freedom on a misunderstanding.

“What’s concerning you?” Talyn sat next to her, the covers doing a lousy job of disguising his arousal.

Sinead sucked in a breath and forced herself not to look at his tempting mouth. “This is too much. We got carried away. I only meant to help you. I didn’t mean for things to go this far.”

“I wasn’t planning on it either, but it felt right to me.”
