Eden wrapped herself around him, and he held her close as he added another finger and stroked her hot, tight core.
She shuddered against him as Blaze stroked and teased her, sliding his fingers over her clit, circling the sensitive nub until husky sounds of desire shot out of Eden.
“I... don’t stop.” She dropped her head on his shoulder.
He held her up as she shuddered, her legs shaking and her breathing growing faster. He longed to bury his cock deep inside her, to have that hot tightness engulf him. If he ever did, he’d be lost to Eden for good.
Her release exploded free, and Eden cried out and clung to Blaze.
He kept stroking her. The flush on her cheeks was so beautiful.
“Blaze and Eden, welcome aboard Tiavac. Is there a problem with your ship? You haven’t come out yet,” Jendar said over the comm link.
Blaze pulled back and rested his forehead against Eden’s. “I want to keep doing this to you, but we’ve got a welcome party wondering what the hell we’re up to.”
She licked her lips. “What are we even doing? I didn’t expect this when I kissed you.”
His gut twisted. He was telling her goodbye. He was being selfish and capturing something he could hold on to forever while he fulfilled his duties to his family.
Blaze took a step back, pushing down his desire. “Like you said, we live to fight another day. That means we get to celebrate.” He walked to the control panel. “This is Blaze. We’ve just finished running through the landing protocols. We’re checking on the animals now. We’ll unlock the docking ramp, so you can come on board.”
“Great. Glad to hear everything’s okay. I’m looking forward to meeting our new arrivals,” Jendar said.
“I’m sure they’ll be glad to be here once they’re settled in,” Blaze said. When he turned, Eden was right behind him.
She rested her hands flat on his chest, the warmth of her fingers scorching through his clothing and into his skin.
“That wasn’t a real answer. You’ve never been like this with me before. You’ve always respected the boundaries and played the gentleman.”
“I’ve never tried to play you. I’ve always respected you.” Blaze tried to step past Eden, but she blocked his exit.
“That’s not good enough. What’s going on? Something’s different with you.”
“You’re wrong. We’ve got a job to do.” He pushed past her and headed to the door. He glanced over his shoulder.
Eden narrowed her eyes at him. “I’m not buying it. You’ve always kept things professional between us. Okay, we’d flirt with each other now and again, but this was on another level. Suddenly, you’re pushing me against the wall and sliding your hand into my pants.”
Blaze closed his eyes for a second. He hadn’t meant to take things so far, but when he’d tasted Eden, he hadn’t been able to stop himself. She was his drug of choice.
“I shouldn’t have done that.”
Eden let out a soft sigh. “You didn’t hear me complaining, did you?”
“I didn’t exactly give you a choice.”
Her mouth lifted at one corner. “True. It shocked me so much that I couldn’t move. But I liked it. I liked it a lot. I still want to know why you did it.”
Blaze wanted to tell her everything. She didn’t know about the obligation he had to his family or that he was about to leave. He owed her an explanation. But she wouldn’t take it well.
He had to get away before he ruined everything and broke his promise to his family. Once he’d taken Eden to his bed, he’d be lost to her forever. She was too big of a temptation to be around. He’d just proven that to himself.
“We need to move. The ground crew is waiting for us. And those animals need to get to their new homes. They’re probably shaken up after the attack on the ship. We need to make sure they’re not too stressed.”
Eden opened her mouth as if to protest then nodded. “You’re right. The animals come first.”
Everything Blaze felt for Eden had to be squashed. He only had to conceal his need for her for another few weeks, and then he’d be out of here for good.
He turned and walked along the corridor. It was time to get to work. It was time to do the right thing and forget he’d ever met Eden Franco.
