“I don’t think it was like that. He’s a single father. He claims she showed up out of the blue. I heard her in the background talking shit about only wanting to see her son.”

“You believe that? She probably came through to intercept that booty call.”

“I believe it. That don’t mean I ain’t irritated.”

“I know that’s right. I would be livid about that with as long as you haven’t had any.”

“You think you know so much about my love life. Just because you’re my bestie doesn’t mean I tell you everything.”

“Let me find out you’re holding out,” she said, pursing her lips.

“I wasn’t holding out. I just didn’t update you.”

“Well update me now before people start coming talking about lattes and shit.”

“We may or may not have fooled around the day of the storm. I got trapped here after bringing him food.”

Her mouth hung open. “Fuck the food! How was the D?”

“Good,” I said, trying not to blush.

“Good my ass, girl. Spill it.”

“It was good. We were in his office on his desk. He’s so nasty, but I think I like it.”

“Obviously, you do. He had your ass up early as hell talking about you were going to be late. I don’t think you’ve ever been late.”

“I haven’t.”

“And the record still stands.”

“Don’t remind me.” I rolled my eyes.

She laughed. “You wanted that ding-a-ling bad!”

“Girl, go to hell,” I said, joining in on her laughter.

“So, what did you do to make him take the tires off the truck?”

“He was trying to keep me from leaving since I was pissed.”

“Well, that’s one way to do it. Sounds like you’re not the only one who had a good time on that desk.”

“Girl, bye. Let’s get to work.”

It was seven thirty by the time I saw Quinton’s truck pull onto the lot. Not that I was looking for him. I had been staying as busy as possible to try to keep my mind off him. It wasn’t my fault that my eyes drifted to the parking lot every five minutes until I finally spotted him.

When he got out of his truck, he walked right over to the food truck. I was still trying to figure out why he was so sexy in those work uniforms and jumpsuits he wore. His hair was down from the bun, falling around his face into his eyes, making him sweep it back with one hand as he walked. God he was beautiful with his black ass.

“Good morning, Rhonda,” he said, looking past me once he reached the truck.

“Not you coming over here talking about good morning after you played in my girl’s face.”

“Rhonda!”

“I apologize for upsetting you and your girl, Ms. Rhonda,” he said before his eyes shifted to me.

“Ignore her,” I told him.
