. . . Oh, fuck, she’d get them home.
Signy reached across Cora and hit the blue button hard. She then scrambled back to her chair, buckling herself frantically as the rorqual’s body shook faster, faster, faster—

You are my heart.
And you are mine.
You are my home.
And you are mine.
I am for you.
And I am yours.
And sometimes when we kiss, there’s no way to know who started it.

Something had happened. Signy didn’t know what, but she was dizzy, bewildered. Her vision was clearing even though she hadn’t noticed it was blurry. She wasn’t sure of what she’d just been doing and—
Had she blacked out?
She’d blacked out.
She didn’t think she’d been out for long. She had a vague memory of being thrown back against her seat, and of enormous pressure in her body. Acceleration. Somewhere in the back of her mind she had a rough idea of what G-forces were and how they didn’t play nicely with blood flow, but she hated physics, and besides, she had far more crucial things to think about.
She stretched out her hand, trembling. She pressed her fingers against Cora’s neck.
Pulse.
Breath.
Okay. Okay.
And Colibri, Colibri was flying fast—fast like a gale, fast like fire tearing through the inside of a building until the oxygen ran out.
For a moment, Signy was grateful. Things were starting to make sense. Colibri had sped up. Right. She was getting Cora back to the stables as fast as she—
Signy’s gratitude vanished as looked out the window. She couldn’t see Fortune anymore.

I am your harbor and you are mine
Which is to say we are two sides of the same ocean
And a tide is nothing more than the tug of a moon
And an ebb is the exchange of a flow
And when we blend below the waves, there is no end to us
And when I reach into you, you are ritual, you are light
And when I invite you in, I remember how to let go
