“Am I hurting you?”
God, it was nice to hear him ask.
She could see it in his eyes and his expression that he was worried.
Worried for her!
“No. You’re not hurting me.” As she said the words, a voice inside of her own head seemed to laugh at the idea. Instead, it wanted the kind of contact with his body that could hurt… the good kind of hurt. “I…”
She bit down into her own lip, trying to find the right words to explain.
She didn’t want him to know that on the inside she was just aching for more.
“I want to feel you,” she knew her face must be blazing with heat. “I want to see you.”
She felt tears gathering in her eyes and felt even more ashamed than a moment ago.
“Take off your shirt.”
For one moment, one hesitation in time, she held her breath and willed him not to laugh or frown at her request.
“You want me to…”
He didn’t finish his words, instead, he sat up.
There, kneeling between her legs, he lifted his arms. He grasped the back of his shirt behind his head and pulled.
Mari knew that his body had to look fantastic.
Heath’s clothes weren’t skintight, but it was obvious that the body beneath them was fit.
She just didn’t know ‘how’ fit until his shirt was off and he dropped it off of the edge of the bed.
Mari lifted her hands toward his chest and stopped, lifting her gaze to meet his own.
His eyes were dark.
They hadn’t bothered to turn on the light in the room and even if they had, it would only touch his back and likely make it harder for her to see.
But the light from the moon outside was enough for her to know before she touched his skin that he had hair on his chest.
The thought had never appealed to her before, but this was different.
Mari reached out her hands and touched her palms to his body.
The sensation of warmth from his skin and the crisp hairs tickling her palms only made her want him even more.
Between her legs she felt something twitch, felt something fill the immediate void against her sex.
She wiggled closer, chasing the sensation and was rewarded when she felt it again.
“You’re trying to kill me.”
Mari heard his words as a jest at first, but when he put his hands on her hips and pulled her against him, she felt the truth of his words.
He was thick and hard and the way he pushed against her, his hips slowly rolling against her heat, made her even more needy than she’d been a moment before.
“I don’t want you to die,” she told him, her voice almost a trembling whisper. “I want you very much alive and touching me.”
