As soon as we return home, I go upstairs and take a shower. While rinsing the suds from my body, my fingers linger over my pussy longer than necessary. After riding home on Jensen’s motorcycle vibrating beneath me, I’m about to combust. It doesn’t help that my hands roamed over his smooth, solid abs, exploring them as we rode. When we finally returned, I swear his rock-hard cock was bulging from his jeans, and I reveled at the sight while swinging my hips to leave him to deal with it.
Has he touched himself yet?
Did he think of me as he came?
I drop my head back against the tiles with a groan. After waiting so long for his return, I need to keep a handle on my emotions before I scare him away too soon.
“Come on, Immie. Stay focused,” I mumble, switching off the shower, then stepping onto the mat. I grab the towel and dry myself before spraying on my deodorant. With the pot of lotion and my hairbrush in hand, I sashay out of my bedroom and down the stairs toward the kitchen.
The back door leading into the kitchen is open, and my heart skips a beat. I glance over my shoulder, and I swear Jensen’s shower is running in the distance. Surely, he didn’t leave the door open?
A cold chill breaks out over my skin, causing goosebumps to scatter up my arms. “Jesus.”
I rush toward the door and pull it closed, then I flick the lock, relieved to be secure again.
“Imogen. Right?”
My back stiffens, and I slowly turn to find one of the guy’s Amanda once brought back here only a few feet away from me. “I was looking for Amanda. Is she here?”
My words won’t come out. My mouth goes dry, and all I can do is shake my head.
He steps back, and I can finally breathe again. “She was meant to meet me.” He glances over his shoulder toward the stairs. “Are you sure she’s not here?” His darkened eyes zero in on me, as if searching for a lie.
“That’s my dad,” I whisper. “He won’t be happy if he finds you here.”
He drags his hand through his slicked-back hair, and it allows me the opportunity to take him in. He’s handsome in a rugged kind of way, but there’s something behind his eyes—a sinister detachment that terrifies me down to my core.
“You should leave,” I say, then step away from the door to allow him access to leave.
“She promised me something.”
“I don’t know anything about her promises.” My heart pounds harder as he steps closer until he’s looming over me. He cages me in, his arms resting above my head. “You’re scaring me,” I whisper, and his gaze bores into mine, allowing me to see the familiar glazed look of an addict staring right back at me.
“Who the fuck are you?” Jensen booms through the room, and I use the guy’s startled reaction to slink beneath his arm and rush toward Jensen.
Jensen’s shoulders broaden, and he pushes me behind him in a protective move I love him for.
“Go upstairs, Immie.”
“But—”
“I said, upstairs,” Jensen snaps, and I jolt at his abruptness. “I’ll be up soon.” He speaks softer this time and tilts his head toward the staircase.
“Okay. Be careful.”
I swear he snorts as I leave the room and head up the stairs.
My daddy keeps away the monsters like he always promised he would.
IMMIE
FIVE YEARS AGO …
Low voices call me from my sleep, but I remain motionless, exhausted and defeated. The pain is no longer there, and in its place, numbness has become my solitude.
In my dream, I was rescued by a strong, tall man with broad shoulders and sparkling hazel eyes. He swore to always protect me while telling me I was about to become his little nightmare.
The timbre behind his tone, coupled with the playfulness, made me feel warm and secure in his arms as he carried me to freedom.
